butyl rope

how much does the sds butyl rope cost? cause ive got several 100' rolls of butyl tape and a couple rolls of what looks just like the sds butyl rope that i got from my cuzzin the installs windshield since its the same thing wouldnt window sealant be cheaper?

Well that answered part of his question. Would it be cheaper to buy windshield sealant and is it the same thing?

Dunno what he's talking about really. Windshield sealant usually comes in a tube. It's normally a polyurethane mixture. There are some Butyl mixtures as well, but those are more geared toward homes.

That's what I was wondering. But he said rolls. So his cousin got it somewhere. And I'm always up for saving some money.

I think your talking about glazing bead. we use it on commercial windows. Pretty much the same thing. yes, it will work the same.

The rope he has is infact for installing windsheilds. I buy my butyl rope at the local parts store.

sweet imma use this help old ass car stop rattling

i have a couple rolls of the butyl rope my cousin works at a glass shop

and i have like 100' of butyl tape like 1 inch wide

freebies i love em

Actually, they're not the same thing. They're both butyl compounds extruded and rolled up the same way, but they aren't the same butyl compound. There's no doubt that they could be used for some of the same purposes, but I would never suggest that anybody use the product I sell to set a windshield. My Extruded Butyl Rope is the same as the adhesive on the CLD Tiles I sell. It's optimized for vibration damping, not sealing.
