old vs new...and the new setup...

while the new is head and shoulders better then the old, his radio sucks balls. so that will get replaced soon...

yeah, i do...even freeair, they had a tremendous amount of bass for what they are and the power they were getting!

his radio just introduces way too much distortion, regardless of speaker used....i'm going to hook them up to the pioneer tomorrow just to listen to them some more!

btw, those are ~.66ft^3 enclosures, tuned to ~40hz...it's a great combination!

thanks jim! i don't like the stain, but the dayton's look good in there..

also, i have no clue if the setup is correct..lol...but after reading over at ditaudio, i decided teh port should be directly behind the tweeter, with the tweet and mid inline and about 6" from center to center. it sounds better darn good, but i have yet to really listen to it...

can't wait to see ur cabinets with drivers in them!

I've found that rear-firing ports have better midrange dispersion...and you can get better in-room gains by corner loading them. Same thing goes for PR's, too.

cool...i'll have to try corner loading them.....about how far away should i put them from the corner?

Are those Xovers optimized at all for the speakers, or did you sort of kludge that together? :domoslay:

i don't have a clue where to start on designing/building my own. so i threw this big memphis bandaid in there for now...

true OG-style...whatever makes it work :)

Hell, for something like that you could probably get away with a simple 1st order Xover setup, if you're short on power.

the x-over parts for my bookshelves cost almost as much as the drivers themselves

The tweeter is crooked.

That CD player is weak, those speakers are probably getting a good 20-30W, if that.
