help / reccomendation single SA8 box

Recommended Posts

i've tried 2 boxes, and i've yet to get "there"

the first box sounds absolutley amazing, goes really deep. only complaint, it sounds like its hitting the spider maybe?(what i was told) certain bass notes make a metal-to metal sqeaking sound. (defintaly from inside the box, not a car/hatch rattle)

34 to 39hz sounds great, exactly how i loved it

specs on box"(26x12x18)

.7cu ft behind sub, 44" long port (11sq in. port area)

next box:

.3cu ft behind sub, 48" long port (10sq in port area)

this box allowed the volume to go further before; the bass was a lot tighter, and hit harder; but again, making a metal-to metal clipping/sqeaking sound.

it was a tigher, higher hz sounding box, it didnt go as low as the .7 cu ft box, it just hit a lot harder.

was in a 96 civic hatch, amp was a rockford 550w rms, 800w peak

what are people using for these sa8's?

i'm looking to save trunk space, and that .7cu box was as big as i want (26x12x18)

The SA-8 isn't a magical driver that can provide the same bass as larger drivers can but just smaller. But for being an 8" driver it's awesome.

What amp are you using? Your enclosure is sealed?

Is (26x12x18) your trunk space?

Perhaps if you make a larger enclosure (ported) and run less power then it won't go out of its excursion and you won't lose bass.

a rockford 550w rms amp, its ported, all the demensions are listed in the original post

26x12x18 was the overall box size of the .7cu box with 44in port, and thats the max size of a box i want to use.

trying out a t-line box next.

thanks,darrin
