Recommended Posts

I just purchased 2 Fi Q's 12" dual 2 OHM and was wondering what gauge speaker wire to run with these.

I am looking into getting the Rockford Fosgate T2500-1bd. Just to help if there is any confusion here are some specs.

T2500-1bd:

1000 Watts RMS x 1 @ 4-Ohms

1800 Watts RMS x 1 @ 2-Ohms

2500 Watts RMS x 1 @ 1-Ohm

Accepts Speaker Wire Gauge from 8 AWG to 16 AWG

Fi Q 12

cooling - yes

p champer - yes it comes with the cooling option

high QTS - yes i will be using a sealed box

extra spider - yes

I heat ring - no

Any other knowledgeable advice is accepted. Thank you

10-14 gauge will be fine for subwoofers but you can do as big as 8 gauge if you want to but that is overkill (comes down to personal preference or whats available).

Most subwoofer terminals only accept 1 run of 8 gauge so typically you have to either trim it down or use smaller wire

Thats exactly why I said 8 gauge is overkill :peepwall:

You may want to rethink your choice of amplifier. With two dual 2 ohm subs your final wiring configurations are .5, 2, or 8 ohms. You will only get 1800 watts out of that Rockford at 2 ohms. Just in case you were thinking you'd get all 2500 at 1 ohm.

Remember you have 100'+ of flatwound aluminum 18 AWG in your Nightshades ;)

I'm guessing it's 18 AWG at least, it's definitely not larger.
