new Mags question

Recommended Posts

ok, well i'm looking into getting two new Mags possibly but know that the upgrade process will take a little time due to money. I have a concept CC-D1200 that at 1ohm does somewhere from 1200-1400RMS and at 2ohms does 900-1100RMS. So for one sub i know i'm fine but when i get the second one i'll have to be at 2ohms and didn't know if 450-550RMS is too little for them. i would hope that i will add a 2nd amp to them but I may be replacing the concept amp at the same time. Will i run into underpowering issues if run at 450RMS? It will be in a sealed 1.5cu ft per sub box.

Nope. They'll be very happy with that power.

Even after Denim's awesome video with 400 watts, it is redily apparent that a lot of people view a Mag as a "power hungry" sub when it is far from that. They are very efficient drivers capable of showing up anything they are put up against (albeit a fiar comparisson). The only time I have not recommended our drivers is when people have had a single driver with less than 300 watts available. With two drivers and 400+ watts available PER driver, that is a very very good formula for great bass.

I will have to agree, the Mags are very effecient. And the new ones are even more. 400 watts will do you just fine.

haha it was killing my trunk hatch in that 2.0 and it was tuned a little low (27hz) so I wonder how it would do if I had the time to put 800 watts on it and tune it up towards 35hz
