found a pair of pg rsdc 12s

ill try to get him to snag these up soon and then pick out the amp (either or the koles or the audiopipe will put out enough juice @ 2ohms so ill see if he wants the longer warrenty (audiopipe), more power (3000d) or save 30 bucks (2400d).

The 2400 kole isn't a bad choice. I'd put the audiopipe above it, but If you're on a budget I don't know if it'd be worth the extra $30. This is the amp you're talking about? .

http://www.vminnovations.com/product_2500/Kole_Audio_QX1_2400D_MONO_D_2400W_Amplifier.html

If that is it, that is also a refurb with a 90 warranty. You can tell by the "rb" in the part number. If I were you I'd get the 3000 kole, but if you got to have warranty get the audiopipe. I've owned 5 koles some for a couple of years and never had any break on me. The kole and the audiopipe will both make your buddy happy....

But, If your buddy owns the kole then goes to a sound comp, he can rewire his dual 2 ohm subs to a .5 ohm load and be considerably louder. You won't have that option with the audiopipe. It'll get hot and go into protect.

haha there isn't a better amp for the price. The cheapest amps that beat the kole in terms of power are the audiopipe 3000 (2 1500's together) or the crunch ground pounder 3000 pro. You're looking at $300-500 for those.

Here's a link to one of a million threads talkng about how good these amps are. At 15 volts and 2 ohms, two koles put out 4830 watts rms 3 seconds into the burp. If you do the math, that means one kole would of put out 2415 :) THAT IS LUDICRISLY RETARDED POWER FOR AN AMP THAT COST LESS THAN $170 SHIPPED.

Kole Audio Q1-3000d...WOW!!!

im hoping he is up for giving the 3000d a shot... could be very interesting. and the loudest setup i've heard. not many systems around here..

i thought the 3000d would look cool if you replaced the top with some plexi, what do you think?

It would be easy to replace the bottom with plexi, but not really the top.... just how it's designed. At 2 ohms, you'd be able to put it upside down without any heating problems. You can also rip the logo off the front, then it's just bare metal fins.

Man,as long as the box and cut through are good, this setup will beat hard for the money invested.

Try that meter put for that price, all you got to do is test it side by side with a DMM, if it's the same then you're good to go.

How about AQ SDC's? Some used ones would be in budget, or 10's just over new. They get loud. Obviously their SQ could be improved upon, but doesn't sound like a big concern.

so far ive come up with is a pair of type Rrrrrs for 250

and these pioneer champion series subs Amazon.com: Pioneer TS-W3002D2 12 In. Champion Series PRO Subwoofer with 3500 Watts: Electronics

thanks for the help il look into those AQ's aswell

Don't mess with the pioneers, I've had those before they're decent but not earth shattering. Get a pair of these.... http://www.vminnovations.com/product_3203/Audiopipe_15_Inch_2000W_Subwoofer.html

The ipipe is the same as the txx-apx's and those are known to be budget beasts, hit hard take their wattage and have 3 inch voice coils...

Here are 4 audiopipe 15's with about 500 watts a piece starting to move hair. You would be running half the subs, but in a lot less space With more power..... SHOULD BE PRETTY SICK......

thanks ill look in to them.

i've also come across some mb quarts pwe either 12s or 15s. the 12s are 70 each and the 15s are 100 each... from what i've read they sound pretty nice, apparently they where based on an RF sub when RF owned mb quarts before they sold them... i hope i can talk him in to doing 15s.

Yeah, that's them. From looking at the two subs, I'd say the pipes would be louder and more than likely have a beefier voice coil. The mb quart does look like a quality product that seems to be sound quality oriented. Those subs have to be a few years old though. Maxxsonics bought MB quart and like you said, Rockford designed those. Here's a pic of the 15, there not as beefy as as that one pic led me to believe. I would also be worried about how well a reversed surround will stay attached to the cone if that thing has a lot of excursion. But, they both look like solid purchases, I'd be happy with either one......

it seems the mb quarts favor sealed boxes, ill boot up winisd later and see what thats about... i dont think we can do the 15, he is pretty set on just 12s. my concern with the audiopipes is that, from what i've read, is that they are really just spl subs... i havent really found a in depth review of them yet... that being said, they look pretty beastly but looks can be deceiving
