removable battery, best way to do it?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My question is a daily/Competing question. it has to do with the Street classes in DB drag. in street A they only allow One (1) battery in the stock location. which is fine, for competing and doing the whole burp it and go thing. but with an saz-3000 i feel i will need more than one battery for daily driving and for the other organization im competing in Midwest SPL (no battery restrictions). so my question is what is the best way to do this? safely of course.

My initial thought was to have a sort of buss bar for positive and negative (this may get complicated so bear with me). I will run one 2/0 welding cable from the front battery to the trunk Buss bars (both positive and negative) the bus bars will be mounted near each other, but not too close. they will be very close to the second battery that will need to be removed for db drag. and just use the buss bars for the amp pos and neg and the removable battery pos and neg. the buss bars would be covered in a way that they would not and could not ground or arc to anything.

any other ideas on this?

Thanks for your time,

Anton Miller

that actually sounds like a good plan to me. or you could get something like this My link and then switch the terminals out each time you want to take the battery out because it would go fuse block, battery, amp. any ways so all you would have to do is that.

thanks for the input, that would definitely be a cheaper and easier way to do it!

Meh, just use a quick disconnect. They're made in all kinds of crazy sizes. Here's a link for an 8awg pair

QUICKCAR RACING PRODUCTS 57-704 BATTERY QUICK DISCONNECT 8 AWG - SPECIAL PRICE!

got any for 2/0? lol

They make all kinds of disconnects like that. I'm thinking about the ones for the electric tow motors at work, it looks like what john posted. Those tow motors have like 18 or 20 12 volt batteries. They plug into a charger, that has 2/0 or bigger cable. I would try to find something like that.
