how to fit a F1 Q12 in a tundra crewmax

Recommended Posts

here is my system

kenwood dnx 6960

audison srx.5

hertz hsk 6.5 xl (components)

hertz hsk 6.5 (coaxil)

hertz 3000 sub (12")

i want to get rid of the hertz 12" sub and get something that will get down, i know im going to need another sub amp but my space is limited,

behind the seat of my crewmax is larger than most 4-door trucks, especially when i slide my rear seat up several clicks,

can someone help with a sub choice, either F1 Q12 or mabye 2 - 10" subs.

and an amp choice to power them

A pic of the truck space would be helpful ...

Get the dimensions and then you would be able to really start talking about products. Without knowing what there is to work with it makes it really hard. GL.

im open to any type of sub, my main goal ,,

1) when i usually crank up my system its when im on the road,, i love to play it loud, music varies all over the board, rock, rap, country, blues,, i listen to pretty much everything (thats why i have over 1000 songs on my ipod)

2) i love it loud and very clean, i would love to invest in some type of processor or eq that will allow me to clean the music up the louder i go.

3) no competition,, just loud and distortion free,, i want it so sound just as good on volume 35 than is does on 20

i need some help with upgrading my system

kenwood dnx6960

audison srx.5 (5 channel amp) running

hertz hsk xl 6.5 (components)

hertz hsk 6.5 (coaxil) rear doors

hertz 3000 (12" sub)

i want to get rid of my hertz sub, here is why

when i play my system its usually when im on the road, windows lowered and system up (i love it loud)

i listen to every type of music you can think of, rock, rap, blues, country , pop, (over 1000 songs on the ipod)

i want to feel the bass, but i want is just as clear and distortion free on volume 20 as it is on volume 35.

i also want some type of processor or eq that i can adjust the louder i turn the system up

so i have heard about all type of subs,, the 2 that have my attention are SSA and F1

so, i would love either 2 10" subs,,, or 2 12" subs or just 1 12".......what every will work with the limited room behing my seat

2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA "CREW MAX" (

about 9" depth behind rear seat,,, about 3' across,, and about 2' height

looks like the depth is around 9" (BOTTOM) and about 3-4" (TOP)

so,, WHAT SUB SETUP

and WHAT AMP

Budget and power ratting of 5th channel on the amp?

i believe the sub output on the 5th channel is in the 300w range, thats one reason i am considering another amp just to power the sub,, one thing i have noticed, the 12" hertz300 (shallow mount, in a ported box) cant handle what the 5th channel is putting out, i have had to turn the gain way down when the volume is up , dont know what that really means , it seems to have more than enough power going to it..

my budget is around $800-1000,, im figuring a good sub will run me in the $2-300 range, and a good amp will be in the $5-700 range, of course i could be way off.

i have heard 4-8" subs in trucks before, 2-10" setup, im working with a single 12" now..... i do love the deep bass, but having a clean sound is important also.

any suggestions

If you could extend your budget 3-4bills for drivers / 5-8bills for amp that could get you more options. Just my .02

building a system for my 08 tundra crew max.

since the back glass is powered i cant cut through into the bed for big subs, so

what subs will work behind the seat, being a crew max i do have alot of room , especially if i slide the back seat up a few clicks.

i have heard 4 8" subs

also 2 10" subs

and a single 12"

music will vary from rock, coutry, rap, pop, blues, all over the place on certain styles,

loud system with alot of clean bass...

any ideas as to what subs, what size, how many and if its possible to build a box to support anything more than a shallow sub (which i dont belive can keep up with a regular style sub), although i dont know for sure..

Going to be hard, but not impossible.

Blow through would be the best way. How important is it to roll down the rear glass?

Xcons get loud sealed up, and sound great. Maybe that is an option with 2 12's?

Hard to say without knowing how much space you have?

x2, go take some measurements and give us some numbers to work with.

Dude, they're not saying to stop posting all together, just stop posting the same exact thing over and over, and you'll probably get more help anyways.

My job as a moderator is not related to any advice I might give. The problem is when you make three threads in different sections of the forum, the only difference being the last sentence asking "Should I buy an Fi Q," or "Should I buy an Icon," or "What subs should I get?" You don't need to post in the same information in different sections and splatter the board. Just make one good thread in a general forum and allow replies to come. The people that enter those forums may still recommend a Q or Icon or whatever else.
