I finally got my system bought and all put together today!!

2 2 0hm 12 inch L7s

Kicker zx 1500

streetwires powerstream 0/1 300A anl fuse

optima redtop

so the problem is...

i turn my truck on, system turns on fine, as i turn the bass up, it shuts off, i turn it down, it gradually comes back on after a few seconds.

And does the same thing each time.

i grounded it to the seatpost bolt ( which i found out briefly agok, IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE FRAME)

i Wired the subs down to 1 ohm each, equalling a 2 ohm load, but the weird thing is, is that the12volt.com said to wire it one way (for 2 ohm load) and kicker said to wire another way??????

so i went with this way-2_2ohm_dvc_2ohm.gif as oppossed to the kicker way. Why is my amp shutting off? bad ground? bad amp? bad wiring? please help

If you wired each sub down to one ohm then you are not at a 2 ohm load, you are at 0.5 ohms. Each sub should be wired like this:

This way each sub is wired in series to 4 ohms, then when added together the load will be 2 ohms.

Is the Optima Red Top the secondary battery or the main starting battery under the hood? Have you done the Big 3 wiring?

Measure the voltage at the amp when as you turn it up and when it shuts off. Also measure the resistance of the load from the subs at the amplifier (all wired together).

That is your problem right there, there is no way a 1500 watt amplifier can get the power it needs to perform. You cant make power if you dont have power, you need to get: a secondary battery, voltmeter and do the Big 3 Wiring. What size is your stock alternator?

Hopfefully they are wired like this, as that amp is only stable to 2 ohms.
