Any thing I should know or be wary of? 5 1/2" blade? 7 1/2"? Corded? Cordless?

Personally I'd stick away from cordless, I mean look at all the builders and contractors. none of them use cordless...

as for blade size I'm not really sure what size mine is.

7 1/2" and I agree, stay away from cordless. Skilsaw is a good brand, and DeWalt is an excellent brand.

Made by B&D. Just a different name. I found that out a couple months ago, when I was comparing saws at the tool place next door to my old work.

In fact, the guy showed me some of the DeWalt boxes which had the B&D logo on them. I was shocked!

i've got a craftsman laser 7.5 inch circular saw and a craftsman professional laser/led scrolling jigsaw. you can have them when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers. table saw is awesome for making angle cuts too. can do it with my jigsaw but not as accurately.

my dad has some carbide tipped blade or something that I use, it works nicely.

Hey what about the side the blade is on. I am right handed so I was thinking a left sided blade but then I got to thinking although this would allow for the most visibility is there a safety issue. I have seem picks of right handed guys holding a circ the same way I do but with the motor on the left and the blade on the right? Which is correct?

Can't say I've ever seen a saw arranged differently. I think they are all standard.

They do make saws like psycho said.

Cordless saws have the blade on the opposide side than regular corded saws.

My friends super old worm drive saw is right side motor, it sucks really badly but i prefer it because its right handed

any chance the blade can come off and clip a nut? trying to avoid that.....

blade wont some off but the nut will shoot out of the wood

Steve was cutting wood and there was a nail in it which he didnt know about.

Well I got me a porter cable mag324 7-1/4 circular saw....any advise on blades? I was lookin at say a 30-40 somthin tooth carbon blade. Is that good for 3/4" MDF (for boxes) & pine (for furniture)? Any advice other than don't cut anything valuable off. I have used cir saws before but this is my first time owning one and I plan to use it a good bit.

you want a mean blade for cutting MDF

Definetly something with carbide on the tips.

MDF just eats up blades like you wouldnt believe
