Should i use a Kinetik 600 Power Cell in my install for my front stage? -- Will it help with my voltage? OR! Will it strain my Alt?

I know its only 400wrms.. but i have the Power Cell already.

I personally dont think it is needed but all that will depend on how the trucks electrical is? I would intsall the amp and speakers with a volt meter and watch the voltage, just cause you have the battery doesnt mean you need to use it. I would either sell it or just hold onto it but I doubt you will need it when just running highs, I run my SAX-125.2 and no voltage drops what so ever and will be adding another amp for my highs next week all off the stock battery.

It is hard to tell if and when an electrical upgrade is needed until you hook up the equipment and watch monitor your voltage, so remember that.

But.. would it hurt? I wouldn't mind having it, since i got it. It was only 40.00 bucks so it wouldn't even be worth selling it cause it didn't dent the wallet.

EDIT: it's an 92 S10 motor with a stock alt so its pretty shitty.. the alts are so weak.

Nothing would ever hurt, but do you need it No. If you want to install just to get it in there and not have to worry about doing it in the future then be my guess. I used to have a red top under the hood and batcap 800 in the rear and when I just had highs amps in the car I wouldnt take the secondary battery out, it stayed in there (didnt hurt the system at all that I know off).

Okay, thank you. I figured it wouldn't help much.. i was more worried about it putting more strain on my alt. I was mainly wanting it so i can build it into my amp rack somehow.

Well you still can build it into your amp rack and mount it, I just wouldnt worry about hooking it up right about now until you need it and no problem.

Just to review.. from starter batt to second batt: + to + to amp and - to - then gound - from the second batt to the frame.

If your asking if you need to run a ground from your starter battery to your secondary battery. The answer is no. Can you? Yes. But it's not neccesary. Just ground it to your frame and make sure your other grounds are good and you'll be fine.

Yes thats correct, but if you don't have enough wire for the negitive run then dont bother and just ground it...plus you need two inline fuses, one located near the starter battery and one located near the HC600

Inline fuse connected to the positive wire, correct?

Thank you

How would i calculate what size fuse i need?

Anyone have a chart/ graph?

What size is the wire? That will determine what size fuse to use.

The amp kit i'm going to be using for the front stage amp is 4 Gauge, so should i use 4 gauge for the wiring to and from the starter batt to second batt?

I'm going to use a 120amp inline fuse for the 4 gauge amp kit.. would the same size fuse be sufficient?

If your going to add more amps later you should wire accordingly. So if in the future you'll have a sub amp and front stage amps I'd just go 1/0 now and then you don't have to spend more money and time later upgrading. For your fuses between batteries, you want to fuse to the capacity of the wire itself. So the knukonceptz 1/0 wire I have is rated to 250 amps. So I have 250 amp fuses to go inbetween. Then you can run the appropriate size wire from the rear battery to your amps. I'll have 1/0 to my sub amp and 4 gauge to my front stage amp. With appropriately sized fuses for each amp. In my case 150 and 80.
