Head Unit for SPL application

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Any recommended Head Unit for SPL application, I'm currently using Alpine 9887 and the buttons fades easily. So I'm leaning towards pioneer for my next H.U. I know DEX-P99RS is the best bet but I can't afford it right now. Any suggestion? My budget is $600.

Thanks

Eclipse CD7200 MKII if you can find one.

I don't understand either of those two statements. What do you mean by fades easily? Also since you "know" the 99RS is the best bet, what about it do you know makes it so?

Let me rephrase it.

The Alpine 9887 buttons fades easily after a few months of use so I'm not considering alpine as my next head unit.

For the DEX-99rs the tuning capability. and 4 way active capability.

Getting closer. Do you need the active capability and if so, how much of it?

Right now I just need 3 way full active, any suggestion aside from MKII

Thanks,

There are a long list of discontinued units that will work.

Anything else your 9887 doesn't do that you need?

Aside from the fading buttons, I'm very happy with it.

Can you mention 3 units that are discontinued so I can check if I can source it locally.

Thanks.

Eclipse 8053

Eclipse 8443

Eclipse 8454

Eclipse 8455

Clarion DRZ9255

Clarion DXZ785

Pioneer 880PRS

Those are the units I can think of off hand, excluding Alpine, that offer a 3-way crossover.

But hell, for a lot less than $600 you could grab a used H701

Headunit add the Ural

There are other older Alpines as well, all the above work really well.

The H701 or P9 would be even a sexier solution.

Plenty of non-h/u based active options also, but I personally would prefer it in the head or nearby by anyways as it makes tuning easier.

Fujitsu/Ten has pulled the Eclipse line of car audio products, which stopped me from getting a 7200 MkII.

I would go with an old Alpine 7998 or 9835 if you can find one.

Hi Andre,

I currently have 9887 and its capability is superb the things that I don't like with it is the fading button so I'm moving of replacing it with a pioneer brand, do you know any good model aside from DEX-P99RS?

Thank you in advance.
