check out my sig and then call DC Power.

I'm thinking of going with Mechman. I've got a 97 Explorer, DC Power has a 230 amp for $429 and Mechman has a 270 amp for $399. From what I've heard, Mechman's alternators are also high quality large case, though I've never bought one from either company.

What do you mean didn't do anything at idle? If it wouldn't work then the car would not continue running. Or do you mean that it just did not produce 270A.

Mods please move to the correct section.

Contact DC, my 260 XP alt ran at 14.9v after 45-1hr of running hot.

Mine does around 130 amps at idle.

 just messing with Mac N Cheese, that is what the HO Alternator is for.

OP if possible I would try and get a HO Alternator as big as you can (250A or better if you can find one). What batteries and other electrical will be acquired?

i've witnessed\personally dealt with both companies.

DC is the way to go.

I should know.. i should have an early birthday sometime soon....

Gotta keep it secret but if all goes well.. my car is about to break a record in the alternator market :)

Have you asked anyone to custom build it for you to what you need? Try Iraggi on ebay. Contact him and ask how large he can build it for you. Cant hurt to ask.
