Chop's build log

Recommended Posts

I will be tearing out the old install on the Dakota.........

the new instal will consist of ;

*no headunit, lol, at the moment.

*same front stage

*adding a XS D5100 for the electrical

*keeping single run of 2/0 gauge

*adding two SAZ-1500D's , will be strapped at 2 ohms.

* they will be pushing two WMD2 18"s

*adding additional sound deadening

*not sure at what stage, but will be tinting the windows

*will murder out the entire exterior

*perhaps lower the stance and add wheels and tires, (toward end of season)

*still playing with a couple of enclosure designs.....

currently the amps are here...

the subs are in the mail,

the battery is here,

biggest issue currently would be radiator and heater core...

there will be a amp purchase for the front stage....

and a new alarm installed....

that will sorta complete the year as far as goals and well over budget....

we will see how it goes, for me, personally,

i will do automotive repair first and foremost,

as well as the tear out, it's cheap enough to do demo , lol

then the audio,

the exterior will be toward the end of things....

i wish, hard pressed to round up any material just yet........

here is a couple of shots of the baskets, they are powder coated ....

even though i like them alot, this was not a speacial color request per say....

they had them at the shop, so i asked to use them instead of black, because they already had them,

i had no additional charge for the color treatment, ftw!

indexphpactiondlattachtopic1297-2.jpg

here they are attacted to the motors.....

indexphpactiondlattachtopic1297-3.jpg

personally, i love the way six spoke baskets look on larger drivers like this......

Looking good! You're going to be loud. :) Just out of curiosity, why did you end up using the PAP WMDS?

not sure i understand your question.....

the wording would suggest i considered something else,

other than these , i only have looked at mach5's, but that was a year ago.

i bought my first Pierce sub, it was a recone, used, from a guy off of the other two forums that i was on alot....

it was a WMD2r15 , it was hella nice imo, i pawned it off during tight times this winter....

i thought i would get it back out and do another box, tuned lower

but found a sweet deal to have these built for me, by Pierce, they have taken very good care of me from the begining.

Audio has no true top end, just how much you can spend is the limit , it's seems.

from the installs i have done, the equipment i have heard, these hold their own,

and cost less doing it.

so , why i chose this brand, customer service, price, previous use, and over all impression of qaulity and performance.

also they look pretty kick ass too!

thanks fellas.....

these sundown amps are fricking power horses for sure....

I have decent expectations from this set-up....

the wmd2's will perform quite well for what i want...

the dang ol' box designs just keep changing on me....

i wish i would keep it simple, lol

i think if i can get a lower 30hz. range of music to be prooduced at around the upper 140's, i will be happy....

uh, let's say 32hz. @ 148 db. = that would be nice.

i know i should have more, but i am still doubting my electrical right now.... another D5100 would be sweet...

wish i could use the aeros, i love the look..... but not enough surface area to install them without having the ports partially blocked....

playing with a drop in slot port, removable,

still really close numbers, but i believe it will be subs and port firing up....

not sure of central port or go with driver side....

oh, took out radiator today, will hunt a few leads tomorrow after church for another one.
