I have noticed over the past year and a half that the stock lights on a 2003 vw passat are TERRIBLE. So after looking around the best headlight I can get (what I am told) are the HID lights 1200K lights (kind of a blue tint). I think those lights with the little blue of a tink would be pretty nice and would be a huge improvement.

Anyway I was just looking to see if anybody has any experience with these lights and how it worked out. I wentt to the dealer and got a quote of 600/per light + labor. I was like yeah right and moved on. I called up a company that polishes lights and he said he could probably get them for around 300/per light if I knew somebody that would install them. Now I was googling around and I found this website. I havent bothered to call them but I am just curious if this is all what I need. The second thing that pops into my mind is that this is a huge difference (200 TOTAL + shipping) than what two other people gave me. I was reading that there are true and nontue HID lights and I am thinking these may be the untrue ones.

Any suggestions? comments? ideas of where else to look?

Thanks in advanced...

I sell mine for normally $90 for a single bulb kit. So that price is about normal. DDM's prices are really low, dont know what kind of kits they have though? Lance has had good success with them. And i am not sure what you mean by a True and UnTrue HID kit? There are bulbs that claim to give an HID look. But all they do is color the bulb with a blue tint and actually reduce the lighting output. And kit that comes with a ballast and a non-filament bulb will be an HID kit. Also i would suggest you go with either a 6K or an 8K kit, anything in the 10K and higher will not be a good light output. When looking at them they are bright, but they will not project the light far down the road. GL with the purchase, i am sure you will love them!!! If you need any more help let me know!

the best choice for HIDs is between 4300k and 5000k oif you are looking for the brightest light.. 5000k is close to pure white and 4300k is slightly yellowish but mainly white..... anyhting lower than 4300k loses output and gets more yellow and anything higher than 5000k same thing except color is different... 6000k is mainly white with some blue, 8000k is minaly bluem 10,000k is dark blue/slight purple and anything above 10000 is not onoly purpleish but stupid...

stay between 4300-6000k if you are worried about output. Im looking for some and looking between at 5000k... might go 6000k because the slight blue but i rather have the higher light output with 5000k

EDIT: forgot to add that wattage matters also... a 55W HID 10,000k light will look more like a 8000k 35W. Basically the color is not as prominent the higher the power.

Don't forget to check if the ones you are planning on getting are legal in your state. Some HIDs are illegal in some states.

Please, please, PLEASE do us all a favor and get projectors as well. If you only buy the bulb you are wasting your money as well as blinding every other vehicle on the road. Withoug a projector to concentrate the beam Xenon bulbs are useless, you'll get pulled over very quickly too.

As long as your truck has a removable light then yes they can be installed. which i think what you have is a 9006 Bulb.

and what is the difference in bulb type?

The bulb type if you mean the numbers like 9006, 9005, H1, H4...etc they are the bulb style that will fit into certain housings. If that is not the bulb type you mean please explain more.

L O L

HID's for $30, cant wait for the results haha

you get what you pay for with hids

Normally that is VERY true, the thing with DDM that i have found is this, "We can price these so low because they are made in a factory we have partial ownership in. We don't pay the factory a profit, we can pass the savings on to you." I am not saying that the quality is the best, but it seems as if they have removed the normal 3rd party distributor.

I do agree that alot of reflector housings are not made for HID's it does not necessarily mean that they will not work fine in the setup. My cars are a good example. I own a 2003 Ford Explorer with normal reflector housing, i have installed a 55W 6000K system and they are by far the brightest lights i have ever seen!!! Besides spotlights, different story! And i also have a 2001 BMW 330I that has factory projectors and HID's, now i have never been flashed in my explorer for the lights, but i get flashed alot with the bimmer. And they are both set at normal or lower than normal range, Dont get my wrong i completely understand what you are saying with the projectors, i am just saying that it will vary for every situation. But yes projectors will offer the cleanest cutoff and best dispersion of light.

There are quite a few cars that come without projectors and HID lamps. All depends on where the hot point of the lamp is located inside of your housing.

DDM Tuning owns part of the factory where the HID's are manufactured so they sell them crazy cheap, all of mine and my friends cars/trucks have them and they are great.
