I am only trying to help not to criticize okay? I applaud your effort to give it a go, but I would do a little more reading and practice before you install them. There looks like spots where there is too much resin and others that look like it has none. The sanding and finishing will be a big pain in the ass so you want them as close as possible before you start on finishing them. I don't see how you are going to attach them.

Do you have some more pics of the process you used to get to this point. I am far from an expert, but I am happy to help if I can.

One suggestion i would make is to try using a woven mat, not fiber....... If that made sense to you. I will get pics of what i mean if you need. And could you explain your steps. Did you put resin on the cloth first then lay the fiberglass or did you lay it then put resin on it? Well man GL with it, the best way to learn is to do it and see where to make it better!! Props for you to step out and try it!!

Looking good. You will learn alot from your first one. I always make the drivers side first for this reason then you will always make the one everybody else see's look even better.

I tryed the fiber mat like you are useing and it was hard to work with and get even close to smooth. Now I just use the fiberglass fabric instead and just do a couple layers if you are worried. On my door pods I only did one layer of fabric because it wasn't very big and was solid after just the one layer and + my starter fleece. You can make them beautiful when done with body filler. Body filler drys REALLY quick SO START SANDING AS SOON AS IT STARTS GETTING HARD, like 5 minutes after you apply it, this will save you time. I personally use an Orbital sander and do several thin layers. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.smile.gif

for your first time, i give you props. i was the exact same way when i tried to glass, i didnt quite know what i was doing. From experiece, i find working with woven mat instead of that type, extremely easy to deal with. It wont pull the strand of glass when you apply it to the fabric because it is woven together. I also think you get a much smoother surface to work with instead of fiber mat. So that means less sanding. Did you put a layer of resin on the fabric, let it get hard, then put a sheet over? or did you just put the glass sheet on the fabric, then started laying the resin?

i layered resin then i put fiber while it was still wet then i put some more resin over the fiber then i let it dry

if it was already kicking off, then you should be good. i just dont like to lay the mat down, then put the resin on. it starts to stretch the material and it takes more time sanding and bondoing(sp)

As long as the fiber is completely soaked it doesn't matter.(No air bubbles) I resined the fleece and let that dry , then did resin, mat, and more resin just like you descibed.

Body filler is also called Bondo. Get some Bondo and you will only need to sand the worst bumps and knock off all the hairs before starting the Bondo. Remember you can wet sand the Bondo.(before it drys all the way)

Putty and paint will make you what you ain't.smile.gif
