Amp tuning help for Bl 15

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I am not sure exactly what I need to have all my settings set at to run my bl 15" and need a little help.. The box is 4 cubes and tuned to 33hz, more importantly the amp is a hifonics brutus BXI-1210D, I need help tuning this for the bl! The amp has "level" or "gain" 9v-0.2v, "Phase"0-180, "bass eq" 0-10db, "subsonic" 15-35Hz, and the "lowpass" 35-250Hz.

I need to know where to put the Phase, and Lowpass the most but if someone knows exactly how to tune everything feel free to tell me!!

Thank you!

Phase is dependent on your car and front stage, LP is personal for instance mine is at 50Hz but some prefer closer to 100Hz, subsonic should be a few Hz below your box tuning frequency, gain should be set with an oscilloscope to make sure you are not clipping.

isn't the phase like how long it takes to hear the bass depending on how big the car is? If thats the case I have an acura cl (little 2 door).. But i will soon have an evo 8:)

Just play with the phase to see which one sounds better in your system, no magic way to set that up.

I have the same amp as you and straight from the manual it says this for Level, " The input level control allows you to match the amp input sensitivity to the output level of the Radio/CD player from 0.2 volts to 9 volts when using unbalanced RCA cables. The Level control needs to be adjusted to match the Line Level Sensitivity (this is the amount of voltage the radio/CD player RCA's provide). Example: If the radio/CD player Line Level Sensitivity is 4 volts, adjust the amp Level control to 4 volts"

No. There are 360 degrees of phase in one full sine wave. I would guess wiki has a decent write up on it, read it, if you have questions ask.

What do your amp settings look like, take a picture of them and post them? What are your head unit settings? Do you have your sub wired down to one ohm, what voice coil option is your sub D1 or D2?

Can you give us more of a description other than 'like it should'?

I live on Lake Minnetonka, grew up in Moorhead.

Alrighty my bad i shoulda been more descriptive.. Well the deal is that im not getting the lows out as much and the bass is tight and high.. I feel the power behind it and i can tell its got the punch im looking for somewhere i feel so close!

The settings i have now are a little better but still i know i can tune it better.. It sounds better than the first night i posted but it can be more responsive to the low end bass and more controlled.

And thats whats up man, mn is badass and beautiful i miss it sometimes.. I gotta go back and vised some time in the future like when i have a more reliable car haha.

I have the pics finally but how do i post em?

For starters turn the Bass EQ down to 0dB and reset your gains.

Im having trouble finding HU voltage, i havent had the unit long at all and already lost my manual some how.. Would it be the preamp voltage? Because if so that is 4volts.. Oh and yes my head unit has a lot of sub options with 2 option menus.. Menu 1 is just On, Off, or Reverse.. And then sub menu 2 you can go from 50hz, 63, 80, 100 to 125hz it also has the subwoofer level starting from -24 up to +6

and okay, but just so you know its only that hight cuz i have the bass remote and thats always at zero.. Should i still turn them down? And what about the phase and such?

Thanks for the help guys!!
