Fi Q (Size?) vs Type R for = output

Recommended Posts

I understand it's not exactly a fair question, but I'm just trying to gain some incite. I previously owned a 12" Type R, ran 500 rms to it in a custom made sealed box of optimum size. (got stolen)

Which setup do you guys think would put out the same amount of spl as it at 500 rms; A 12" Fi Q sealed, 12" Fi Q ported, or a 15" Fi Q sealed? I'm looking for sq so that isn't the question. The Type R was perfect for output, but quality was lacking.

Hopefully someone has experience. :)

Thanks

If you are looking for the "same" amount of SPL then you are NOT looking for SQ. Not even close. There is a reason that there are Noob Posting directions on the site and you seem to have ignored them all.

Comparing a Q to a Type R is a joke and makes absolutely NO SENSE.

I'm fully aware of what I am asking. I just can't compare them in person. I just don't want to loose a lot of output when switching to an sq setup. I know the question sounds ridiculous. :) I have a 500 rms amplifier and I am looking for a comparison. I don't find the question exactly smart either.

If your worried about ouptut in a SQ setup then your not going for a SQ setup, you should be worried about your front stage first and then a sub.

I am working on my front stage. :) Dynamating my car too. I understand that in an sq system you're looking to blend your components together, and in spl you're looking for a ground pounding experience. I was just wondering about output, that's it. Sorry for the apparent dumb question all.

Here we can make it simple.

Almost ANYTHING sounds better (notice I didn't use SQ ;) ) than a Type R. This would include a BL and even a BTL.

Getting louder than a Type R is harder, but again both the Fi B drivers would *assuming you can build an enclosure*

read the posting guidelines in my sig, it will help you get a much better answer if you actually followed them when you made a thread

Alright, My bad. :) Sorry for the moment of stupidity. I am very talented at making boxes.

Given the Q has significantly more linear excursion capabilities than a Type R, a 12" or 15" sealed Q shouldn't have a problem surpassing the Type R sealed in output capabilities. A 12" Q ported would blow it out of the water.

Any model of subwoofer from Fi would outperform the Type R.
