Kicker CVX vs. Tidal (ID)

Recommended Posts

I am installing a system for a friend in an older Monte Carlo. He has an Alpine head, US Acoustics US 2200 (old zed amp) and a prefab 12" enclosure on the small side, I need to measure but I am guessing .75cf per driver.

His budget is $200 for 2-12" Subwoofers. I have found the following and want your input on which one would deliver more output. He listens to a lot of Hip Hop.

Kicker 07CVR124-2-Pack (2subs_07cvr124) - 12" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix

REF-TM12.4 - Image Dynamics 12" Dual 4 Ohm OEM Tidal Audio Subwoofer

Both subs handle 400rms and both can be had for under $200 for a pair. Any input is appreciated. I have heard the CVX's but have never heard of Tidal. I know they are made by Image Dynamics.

Thanks in advance!

Really wont matter what he buys, his box is too small for a pair of 12's if your guess is correct.

Box is 1.2 cf. per chamber, just did measurements. I thought it looked really small but there is enough available air space for either application sealed.

Never listened to the Tidal, but ID makes good stuff.

If he can up his budget $50 look at the SSA DCON's.

If those are your only two choices (they really shouldn't) you should narrow it to one. Running the L7's sealed is far from recommended. Realistically I'd like to limit it further as I haven't heard (nor even heard of) the Tidal drivers which make them impossible to recommend as well. Many things will work, but knowing your goals would help narrow that list down.
