amp problem to much vibration

Recommended Posts

ok so i learned with my last amp not to bolt it to the box.....well ive got my newest one bolted down between my front seats with the sub replacing the back seat and the amp is vibrating to much and cuts out. but i tap it and press down on it to keep it from vibrating and its fine.....now what i wanna know how can i mount the amp im getting in a few weeks so i wont have to worry about this problem happening to a brand new amp after awhile....anyone else ever have this problem?

umm if you wnat you CAN mount it on the box BUT you have to put rubber then a layer of wood over the rubber then mount the amp. the idea is the rubber will absorb the viberations

other then that if you wnat to mount it inbetween your seats i would recommoned making a L shaped braket and mounting the amp on that (of mdf or something liek that)

again keep in mind to lessen viberation is key here so you need to MOUNT it to somethign that is strong and not going to move all around!

question:

1. what vehicle

2. what amp

3. what sub(s)

4. extra battery(s)

5.h/o alt

6. big 3?

Why not put the amp in the trunk since the subs are in/taken place of, the back seat?

ya i was going to recommend jsut put it in the trunk but for some reason i assume his trunk is way to small (smart car idea) or maybe he doesn't wnat to use his trunk at all but in that case he could simple build a rack and put the amp under the rack that way he can still use the space the amp is using!

but that is also why i asked what kind a vehicle he is using!

sub - rf power hx2 15 - 4.66cuft slot ported tuned at 30 hz

amp is temporary its the biggest i had layin around - bazooka 1500.1 - mono 500rms

car - 76 caprice

stock electrical w/ big 3 upgrade

voltage meter runs 14.6-15.0 normal

when bass is cranked doesnt drop below 12v

ok i mounted bolted down a piece of mdf and my amps are mounted to it and the mdf is nice and tight and doesnt move when u try to wiggle it.....i took my backseat out bolted a platform there and mounted the enclosure to it separated by some deadiner... its not the wood shaking its my whole car .lol. front seats vibrate pretty good my ol' lady kinda likes it lol....

and i cant put the amp in the trunk cause it leaks hardcore needs the rust in the trunk fixed and a new lid seal

so basically try something rubbery between the amp and mdf its mounted to and come back with the results...what about some rubber feet that will raise the amp and absorb

rubber feet also work! it doesn't hurt! lol! as for your trunk you could still use it if you put the amp in there aslong as you put something over top of the amp so stuff can't leak on it or even put it in a plastic box and use some fans (80mm pc fans) to push the air in and out! look at this pic here when my false floor is closed the fans blow cool air over the top of my amp! (never gets hot)
