Open up the amp and take pictures and post them on here! Somebody may be able to help you more.

Make sure you don't have a short somewhere in the B+ or in the speakers to the amp.

8 ohms should not be a problem.

If you have a warranty on the amp, do not open it up. Send it in for repair. However, if your warranty has run out or you bought it used, go ahead and open it up.

I've had three Crossfire amps blow on me for no apparent reason so this wouldn't really surprise me.

Crossfire puts a nice little sticker on one of the screws you need to remove the amp cover, take if off and your warranty is void. The XP amplifiers have a 7 year warranty so take advantage of it.

Good advice on not opening if still under warranty!

Try installing the amp in a friend's install to see if it works there, and also try a new amp with your wires. But it does sound like an amplifier problem.

yeah well i cant really do either of those ideas. no one around here has even herd of an amp being more than 1000watts and haveing 2 power and 2 grounds

You're not going to play it full blast, you just want to see if it turns on and stays on. a 12 gauge power wire would even be enough.
