1. Depending on the vehicle, it could be a pain in the ass ... or very simple. Half an hour, or an hour and a half. $30 doesn't sound bad at all really.

2. Depends

3. $25-$50

4. It depends on where everything is and exactly what you're doing. If wiring is a pain, it's a pain. If the speakers are in the doors, running new speaker wire to them could be a pain. If the speakers don't fit well, making them fit could be a pain. The "could be a pain" 's add up, which = time. Time = $.

If a friend comes to me asking for any of the aformentioned, the price would depend on the person I'm doing it for. I haven't charged anyone for a head unit install I've done in my own driveway, on my own time, with my own tools, and with my own parts. The person I would charge though ... is the dickhead who stands around with his finger up his ass doing chit all, whereas I wouldn't charge the person looking over my shoulder or asking questions, or helping tear the vehicle apart or run wire ... so long as they did it right so I don't have to go back and do it again.

$100 to run wire + install sub, amp, head unit, and a pair or two of speakers isn't very expensive when you consider how much a shop would charge. Most places are $50 alone for the head unit.

It's a tough call for me usually. I don't like charging people because a) it gives me something to do, B) sometimes they are willing to learn, c) they have seen my work somewhere else, liked it, and want something similar, d) I don't want them paying out the ass for a chop job at a shop, or e) I know they paid too much locally for the equipment they bought, so I'd rather them not get further ripped off. Support your local shops all you want, but the one other shop in my town makes me throw up in my mouth.

I will NOT do anything for anyone outside of a friend or co-worker. If something goes wrong, YOU are responsible. Too much damage to be done and people are so sue-happy now-adays. Just too much trouble if you ask me.

i totaly agree with him, i installed a close friends system, everything went well, then i started getting alot of people comming to me from school, cause they like how i install them, my dad said dont even think about, my dad is a car mechanic, and owns his own business, he said if something goes wrong, your in big trouble, and if you cant fix it, it goes from your own pocket, or to a lawyer...

1. To run 1/0 gauge through my car ( i got quoted 30 bucks)

depends on the car $20-$50

2. Install an amp and a sub with box and wiring for a friend

is there a stock HU? If not, are there patch cables in place already? I'd say to run +, -, Rem, slap amp on box, screw box to vechicle, pull HU & run rca's.. $75 - $150

3. Install a HU

Very vehicle dependant, but $20-40

4. A full install (2 sets of speakers, 1 sub, and amp with wiring and box)

Again, drop in speakers or mod's needed? are these speakers off the stock wiring or an external amp? So on, So on. Hourly @ $40/hour

I generaly dont charge anyone, if they throw me some cash, that's cool. Keep in mind, I only install for good friends & family. I'm not going to deal with wing nuts who don't understand why they can't turn the HU up past the vol. I specify. ;)

You're a great helper! But I would pay, and you should charge if some just wants something done and not assistance with something.
