need help with 12 Qs box

Recommended Posts

So here the deal i just came up on two 12 inch D2 Fi Qs. What to do?

i have a 3 cube net box i have that i made to fit under my seat in my truck. ported@35

Im just using the Q or Qs untill my SA-8 come in from sundown

I have good electrical and will be run off a SAZ-1500d.

The question is should i run 1 Q ported in my box at 1 OHM or seal my port and run both at .5 or 2 OHMS.

Im looking for loudest. I know Qs arent for LOUD applications, but this system is temperary just to hold me over.

If it was me, I would put them both in a sealed enclosure and run the amp at .5 ohm. The amp will most likely make more power than the drivers can handle at .5 ohm but just watch the volume.

Id be more worried about the drivers over 2k than the amp under 1 ohm. Just me though.

Also the amp with good voltage will give you close you 2k at 1 ohm anyway. Either way you cut it, there is a little overhead. We all like that though, dont we?!:)

Yeah ive had this amp at .67 ohms and beating hard but you could still cool your beer on it. and its the old heat sink model. Good job Jacob.

So you think two sealed would be louder than 1 ported?

Imo, yes.

You can always try both and see what you like better though.

They are stable a very low impedance, as long as you have sufficient electrical they'll be fine. Lifetime of the amp is decreased though.

Remember it voids warranty coverage as well.

i bought used lol.. dont think that warranty applies to me. to be honest i wont ever run it lower than 1, but its nice to know. :) cant wait to get it hooked up and running. sounds like 1 hell of an amp.

If you bought used from Jacob, it does but not under one ohm like Duran said.:)

Well i got the Fi Qs today.....Not that impressed i have two 12s in a sealed box 3 cubes net. maybe ill try ported tomorrow. i know the Q isnt a spl sub my my 8s hit about 2x this hard.

Fi recomends 1.8 cubes minimum per sub for ported. could i run two in 3 cubes?

Doubt it. Need room for the port and driver displacement.

I have done a couple of comparisions of (2) sealed vs. (1) ported. (1) ported has always won for me.
