I'd expect it to be around $550 when it finally stabilizes. Looked last week in japan and didn't see it out yet. Surprised, but I may have just missed it as my japanese is pretty non-existent.

It's been released in Japan. Buwalda has already had 3 group buys for the JDM units over on DIYMA, I believe the first two shipments are already in the owner's hands. There's a couple reviews up over there already aswell. The price from Buwalda is $1200 to your doorstep, which is cheaper than the MSRP of the North American unit. There's already conversations over there about differences between the JDM & North American market units for anyone interested. For one, the JDM unit comes with a small 6 channel amp which I believe they're saying the NA units will not.

If anyone is seriously interested, Buwalda stated in his last Group Buy Thread that the next order will be March 20th, so you may be able to get in on that.

My personal opinion.....meh. It doesn't do much more than my H701, and I'm spoiled by only having to run 2 wires from the headunit to the trunk now (Ai-net & optical cable).....I couldn't imagine trying to stuff 4 pairs of RCA's in the dash behind the headunit,

3 pairs was a gigantic PITA.

Any more than my target price and it isn't worth it. You nailed that. I did only look in Yadabashi, but as stated rather confusing store considering it is 10 levels big and has everything. :) All around electronic town in Akihabara I saw no sign either, but that really wouldn't make the easy to spot locations neither.

$1200 is retarded.

I seen that head unit, dumb question what is dsp? is that a time alignment for each speaker or is it like a high end eq system :noob:

DSP stands for digital signal processing, ie active crossovers, eq and time alignment.

Nice looking head unit !

But way too expensive for me.

The 800 and 880 prs are fantastic, I don't need more : with such a price tag, this hu is more suited for rich SQ competitors !!

I believe Buwalda requires a minimum of 8 orders per group buy to place the order, which means he's already moved atleast 24 units @ $1200 a pop :o

Fits with the rest of his stuff price wise and utils per dollar.

Since the Pioneer is out of my price range I will just go with the new Alpine CDA-117, the replacement for the CDA-9886 with some of the CDA-9887 features.
