upgrade from icon 10?

Right now I'm running a icon 10 in a ported box to spec off of a aq1200d. I wanna try another set of subs and I have 2 si bm 10s laying around, my question is will those be louder, running off the aq1200d and a ported box, or will it pretty much sound the same as the icon? I was also thinking about a pair of sealed (no room for ported) 12s such as type-rs or ia 187s. Which route will be significantly louder?

I would wanna retain some sq but the main goal is to get louder. And the bms I have are the sundown rebuilds, which jacob stated that they can go ported from 1.2-1.5 at 30-35hz.

If you already have the si, try them in a good custom ported box.

If you don't like them, you can sell them, keep the box, and find 10" subs that can fit in your box.

Why not a second Icon 10" ? On 1200 watts, you will like them, for sure !

Be careful with the box design, and build it right.

How would a single DC 4xl 10 with 2 aq 1200ds compare to the icon in the same box(1.5cu in, 32hz)? Big difference in output or a waste of time?

2 10" drivers vs 1 10" will be louder (Cone Area, Motor Strength)

1 10" driver designed for SPL on twice the power vs 1 10" driver designed for SQ on same power.......Waste of time imo! 2 different designs and purposes for the drivers.

Ok I see what you're saying. I do wanna try for more spl which is why I was thinking about the dc 4xl 10. The idea was to just get a louder sub(4xl 10) and just drop it in the same box the icon was in, and power it with another aq1200d in the future. I am hesitant with going with a 2 10" setup since I dont really wanna go with a bigger box than I already have now because of space limitations.
