Aero port help

Recommended Posts

seen this link on one of our other threads....

i would like to write down the basic formula mentioned in it for the aero ports.

referring to the port area equivalent of a slot port.

if i said that right.

it mentions that you can be safe with 56% of what a slot port needs for the area with an aero port.

is this a good rule of thumb to keep in mind?

so, i found this one too, and after playing around with the numbers a while, i seen that the 56% came up again, hmmm, might be on to something here.

these guys get a little deeper with it, but, in short, i think i got it.

lots of info though,

hope it helps.

I can't link to the CA post for some reason, but I bet they are just misquoting Neil.

It isn't that you can use 56% of the area, but that the velocity is 56% less. (amusingly 6.67m/s is more than 56% less than 15m/s)

i could not link back to it from my link or the one under fabrication, where i got it from

i find that within useing slot ports, i can get alot closer to the port area that i need / desire , than with the aero ports.

the velocity is 56% less, okay!

thanks

You can make an "aero" port out of a slot. Just requires some kerfs :)
