sub/amp matching

Recommended Posts

Can a 150WRMS output from the AMP is enough to boost a 175WRMS Sub?..

Will it sound good?...

what would you recommend if that is the scenario to improved performance of the sub or the amp considering that's gonna be the setup?..

thanks

should be just fine as long as the gains are set properly

i have the polk audio gnx124,12", 175-400 watts RMS, SVC, 4 ohms

and im thinking of getting the PG Octane R5.0.4 to power this, its a 200WRMS in 4 channel

so 2 channel bridge will put out 150 watts of RMS in 4 ohms

im just a newbie... and just building up a new entry-level system

thanks for the reply by the way...

Keep in mind your powerhandling is going to be enclosure dependant. If you build a larger(read more efficient) enclosure, powerhandling will go down. I'm guessing the Polk has a 2 or 2.5" VC and should be more than capable of handling upwards of 500 watts given you don't go overboard on the enclosure.
