Enclosure Help!

Recommended Posts

Okay this first pic is the side view. This is in my trunk and it will be set into my wheel well but will also go about 4-5 inchs above that level. My first question is; would firing my woofer into the back of my seats pose any significant problem or reduction in output? Also, can I place my port outside of the box extending into the cabin or would this potentially pose a problem?

holy huge pictures batman...lol...

even with dsl they don't wanna download..

i'll check them out later...

but there is no reason u can't run the entire port outside the box i can think of...

and firing directly into the seat might cause some lose of percieved output..

Hey Mrray would a bandpass be a better idea or will I lose the same amount of output? This one also with the port outside of the box.

Thanks

bandpass, if done correctly, is an awesome enclosure. the trouble is they are fairly hard(more involved then a regular ported box) to build(design) properly. and a properly built simple ported box can sound just as good while maintaining a high output level. prefab bandpass enclosures are for boom only, and they give a proper bandpass enclosure a bad name.

if ur dead set on trying something different, i'd suggest the ABC box. two outa the three ports can be designed to be outside of the box so that they can be placed where they will fire directly into the cabin. have a compentent designer help u out with one.

my personal suggestion would be a simple low tuned (~34hz) ported box, with the port firing into the cabin. simple to build, with very predictable results.
