Sub Opinion

Recommended Posts

Am currently decideing between getting a 15" Incriminator Audio Death Row (with the correct gain setting and knob control) or a 15" RD Audio Heavyweight (SQ model). I have 2000 ~2200 watts of rms to play with and planning to use a 4 cu.ft enclosure tuned to about 28~32 Hz seeing that the enclosure size is within both woofer's specs. Electrical is not a problem ( 230 amp HO alt., Big 3 done with double runs of 0 gauge, kinetik 1800 in the back). Am wanting to know which sub to get. I know that this may not be the best forum for the topic but i like to hear both positives and negatives of the sub(s) that am thinking of purchasing. Am wanting a sub that is musical and can produce great low end response seeing that I listen to mostly reggae, rap and alittle R&B. The enclosure is going into a 2000 dodge dakota ext. cab, and money is not a problem. I like having nice SQ but like to have the ability to get loud when needed. My present setup is a 15" Fi Q on a AQ 2200D in a 4 cu.ft box @ 30Hz. Any input would be great.

Thanks

Am wanting a bit more output. Dont get me wrong, Scott makes amazing subs but for me am just wanting more output. I love the Q, it gets low as a mudda f@$%er, am just wanting a bit more output. Ive tried it in 3 different boxes tuned higher(32Hz, 35Hz) and lower but didnt get what i wanted. I was just wanting some feedback on both woofers. I know that tensions maybe high between the 2 companies but like i said i was just looking for some input from folks that may have had the experience of both woofers. shrug.gif

Why didnt you just get the Bl or BTL from the get go if you are looking for more output?

I have heard a Death Row 12 off about 1200 watts tuned low. Was nasty, sounded good and clean but still got hella loud. Hit a 137.xx at 27Hz that day. Nice for 1 12 tuned that low. If money is not an issue, with the power you have, you might want to look into a Death Penalty. They get LOW but are still nasty LOUD and sound good doing. I was surprised at how musical they are. My mind has been made up since the first time I heard one and I haven't looked back. Gonna throw 3K at a 12, I have a feeling I'm going to be real happy lol. Anyways, good luck with what ever you choose.

Ill look into the DP line since I have heard so much about them, but even with that sub wouldnt the RD audio HW be a better choice? Am not stuck on the brand just wanting to get the best product for my money as everyone here would?

Going with nothing is a smarter move then giving your money to RD, or buying RD used and having to give RD money to repair it. Do you research on the company and the products, as I am not bashing what so ever.

Since it seems like your stuck on the RD then get it but no body can tell you which one is better, the only way to tell is to buy both and test them. When it comes to car audio you gotta compromise and if that doesn work then flip a coin, that is the only way you will be able to make a decision especially if it only comes down to two drivers.

Thanks for the quick input guys. Ive decided to get a 15" DR and put it in a 3.5 cuft box tuned to 30~32 Hz.

The RD is a piece of crap and so is the company. Keep ignoring advice and you'll keep getting the wrong solution. I tried to point out that a BL was better for you than a Q and I'll do it again. For your goals you DON'T want an RD paperweight and should have a BL, BTL or the like.

Good choice on the Incriminator DR. I love my LI's and you should be more than happy with the DR! Not to bash any product but RD is one shady company and I would never deal with them or recommend them. Just do a quick google search and you will see what I mean!

Good Luck!

I was in the same case.

I loved my 15" Icon, but I was missing some output :I bought a 15" Xcon and I am very happy with it! I will upgrade the amp when I can.

You have a lot of power available, so the IA might be a good choice.

BTW : One thing I understood here : always listen to M5, you will not be disappointed !
