Maxxsonics has killed MB IMO and I'd also never buy an AQ. If you are truly budget limited, I'd shop used.

The Quart seems to be the cheap "IT" amp of the month. But as Sean said, the brand and the quality that was once there was wiped out. I agree on looking for a used amp if possible. 3/4 of my amp collection was bought used. :)

Going from 1400w of Sundown power to 2000w of brand-x generic won't yield you any audible gains and will cost you reliability and support. Not worth it; what you are calling an upgrade, I'd call a downgrade.

To add to that, unless you are trying to compete, the extra power will not be all that noticeable.

Agreed, if a TL tells you you have gained a tenth of a db or even several tenths, you would need the TL to tell you, your ears at normal volume couldn't distinguish that even at low volume never the less at 140+ db.

Plus your subs only need 1200 rms, so the SAE-1200D will suit you find since it is underrated any ways.

I do not see anything wrong with the MB Quart.

I have the DSC 4150. It is a very nice amp and is well built. Opinions are like arseho everyone has one. :drink40:

Pay more all you want to but I thought I would throw that out there.

Glad to know you have an asshole. :P

Part of my dislike for the MB is what Maxxsonics has done to them. Check out their "new" components. They should really have a crunch label and not an MB. They are doing everything they can to get mainstreamers to buy based off past reputation and considering what they have done to the other companies they have swallowed I am 100% sure that they are cutting corners they shouldn't on components and assembly on their amplifiers. Pre-Maxx purchase MB's are more than fine. ;)

x2, if your on a budget then those might be the amplifiers for you (they are good budget amplifiers from what I have heard and from people on here). I dont buy used but I would buy a used Sundown all day over these products. I been down the mainstream line of products and there are only certain brands that I would use and these guys are not one of them. It is up to you at the end of the day, it is your money and your equipment (just make sure you way all your options and pick what is best for you and your application).

*Also there is no difference in between the two sound wise, the only differenece will be price wise and that is it.

I agree 100% on the components. Old school were the chit. Not so much now. Yes, they should be marketed under the Crunch lable until they come up with a higher end line up to do the MB Quart repetutation justice. In my opinion the best budget comps are the ID CTX.

I will have to disagre on the amps. At least for now, the DSC and the Crunch GP3000 amps are well built and priced very nice. Not all the Crunch amps are as nice and maybe all the MB Quart amps are not either, but the guts on the DSC4150 are comparable to much more expensive amps and it does rated I am sure of it. I bridged the DSC4150 to 500w x 2 to my front (of course the gains are down) and it's quite good. This amp cost me less than $150 and that is a GREAT value in my opinion. Amplifiers take a signal and make it louder there is no voodoo that makes one sound significantly better than another.

All that said I am NOT knocking Sundown at all. They are excellent amps, but just because everyone has one does not mean I have to run out and get one too.

Everyone is on a budget some large some small. I look for value and I feel for less than $150 shipped the MB Quart is (for now) a good value for my money. Time will tell if i feel that way in a week, a month or in 5 -10 years. I take excellent care of things i spend my money on so I am a very good lab rat. If I am wrong, I will be the first to say so, but as of today right now :santa: I am happy with the Maxxsonics products I own and so is my wallet.

And Sir-Lancelot that is all that matters since it is your system, your money and it really does boil down to how you treat your equipment at the end of the day. I was in the boat everyone was a year ago, Hifonics BXI-2610D vs. Audioque 2200D vs. MB Quart DSC 2000.1D. Luckily Sundown had the presale on the SAZ-2000D and didnt look back after that, so yeah everyone has a budget that is why I say take our opinions in since people ask questions but it is up to that person to make the decision for themselves. Any amp will work fine in those conditions just make sure you use your amplifier for the purpose it was intended for and dont try to exceed its' capabilities and it will last you for some time now.

Bingo and well said !!

Being 39 and having had a system or two in my life there were some hard lessons in my youth to learn that. When you keep replacing things over and over no matter the brand there is only one common denominator and that is what you see in the mirror. I have not blown and amp or a speaker since my early 20's.

Take care of your purchase and it will take care of you.

any reasoning behind this?

AQ are good amps.. Just not the best IMHO

I've heard older Comp sets of MB Quart VS new Maxxsonic Comps and the older sound just so much better.
