give me some ideas for good cd's to buy

Recommended Posts

so...I'm two blocks away from the Virgin Megastore, and invariably I've spent several hours over the last few days there perusing albums that I've always wanted to get but couldn't find anywhere else back home.

I need suggestions for three or four albums to pick up. Steve and Tom know my musical taste pretty well, but for anyone else, I mostly listen to classic rock, with some techno/trance and jazz thrown in there.

Thanks.

How about some newer stuff that sounds like older classic rock? Do you like Stevie Ray Vaughn? Try Los Lonely Boys, good music, although there are a couple of spanish sung songs on the album.

Just a couple that came to mind.

Van Morrison - Magic Time

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle, Vol. 1: The 20 Greatest Hits

The Rolling Stones - Forty Licks

Pink Floyd - The Wall

Allman Brothers Band - A Decade of Hits 1969-1979

I do like 3 Doors Down. They don't seem to be like your typical Nickleback, Green Day, etc. New Audioslave CD is decent. I don't know if you'd like Modest Mouse, Wilco, etc.

Listen to them before you buy them :P

There are way to many classics out there.

Bruce Dickinson's newest release (name escapes me at the moment) is pretty good, Judas Priests new is real good as well. :+1: on the CCR, for live stuff I look for King Biscuit Flour Hour releases ( you can order from the site as well do a search for king biscuit), Marc Cohen, Mark Knopfler, good god man my brain is going way to fast for my fingers

Van Morrison was one I should have looked for.

I bought the 2-CD CCR imported set a while ago..."Platinum" or something or other. Better (but more $$$, of course) than Chronicles.

I already have The Wall. How could I not :D

I've listened to 40 Licks before, and honestly, I wasn't too impressed with the recording quality of the albums...besides, I've collected 90% of the tracks that I like on them anyway without buying the CD's.

Thanks all for the suggestions, though. I ended up with some Neil Young, Clash, Miles Davis, a replacement of "Who's Next" b/c my old one was scratched, and "The Kids Are Alright" because I didn't have it. Also picked up some Chemical Bros.
