Hey guys!

OK, my third post is supposed to be here so here goes.

I am about to purchase a pair of Alpine SPR-17S component speakers for my truck. Here are the specs:

Since the speakers are 110w RMS the JL amp powers it at 150w RMS and the RF powers it at 200w RMS (for just $24 more) I'm wondering which one I should go with.

Amplifier choice won't matter much, JL audio and Rockford Fosgate both make excellent amplifiers.

Don't chose one over the other because it puts out more power, that is what a gain knob is for.

Ive never used the JL amp but i do own a RF 450.2 and its been a great amp my all accounts.

And i like how the fosgate amp puts all the connections and adjustments on one side of the amp, its convient.

I'd choose neither at retail, wouldn't base my choice on any of the specs listed other than headroom, wouldn't expect an audible difference between the two, but am unable to offer alternatives without understanding what you are trying to accomplish.

Well M5, what can I say.....I want to get the best out of those Alpine speakers. I was hoping that with the specs of these two amps the experts here could help me out with which one would make my speakers sound the best. But as some have mentioned, I guess out of these two options, it doesnt really matter!

As far as budget goes, I can spend up to $320 on an amp for my speakers. Any suggestions for other amps?

You can read the posting guidelines and you could say a lot.

Either way, to get the most out of the speakers you need to spend time thinking about the install and not the amp. It is by far the least important part of making them sound good. Perhaps a different set of comps would go further as well, but without knowing your goals we can't help there either.

I guess you're right M5. I probably should include more details!!! Ok well these speakers are going into my 2 seater truck and I'm ony planning on installing these pair of speakers to take care of my mids and highs.

I have always looked for sound quality and sound stage in my audio equipment, but I also want it to be loud (not competition loud, but loud). Another thing I should mention is that I live in Guatemala City where there is a limited number of car audio brands. Mostly Pioneer, Sony, Memphis, Fusion, Soundstream, db Drive, alpine (just HU), JVC, JBL and for all of these brands, they just bring down the more entry level series. And also there are pretty much no audio experts here what so ever to guide me in my purchases.

So I have decide to buy my entire sound system over the Internet, even though this means not being able to hear any of my components previous to purchase, dealing with no warranties and crazy shipping costs!

So that's pretty much my story. If you think it would help, I would be glad to post up my entire system design.

I would probably choose the JL because it has a bit more/better features so it's a bit more flexible if you want to do anything differently down the road.

You mean the SAX's, the SAZ's are the subwoofer mono amps. OP give a list of your entire system design and goals, someone on here will guide you in the right direction on what you may need.

You're on the ssa forums, so take a look at the ssa store, you could find great deals on subs and amps.

They have some really good combos, in your budget.

You receive your products from the manufacturer , not from a online re seller, with all your warranties.

Your system is all right, but I have never heard the type s Alpine speakers.

You have some good potential with all mentioned above. Now just put the extra time and effort and do a great install. Maybe add some deadening material to your budget and do the doors. Deadening was without a doubt one of the best improvements I have made to my car sound system.
