What are your opinions on this sub? in my case, it is $48 cheaper than a RL-p (both being 15s). idk if im down with the 1000w rms though. do you folks think they will hit pretty much the same dbs in general, just one will sound nicer than the other?

I was just at a show in Denver on Sat and watched a CRX with 4 12" SX's walk away loudest in his class at 156.7 and 157.4 in consecutive runs. I have the RL-p (12") and would say they are very comparable with the RL-p sounding a little more musical. The SX's are some sexy beasts though, and $50 is $50, just depends on what you are ultimately seeking, SPL or LSQ.

Heard both...owned both before...

They are both EXCELLENT LSQ drivers...with the Rl-p having a slight edge in SQ...and the SX having a slight edge in SPL. Daily, you MIGHT notice a little more output from the SX...and on the Sensor...the SX will shine.

If the SX is anything like the SE it doesnt have very good SQ IMO

But as we all know, SQ is oppionated.

Not as acurate as i would like.

Shiva> SE in SQ

Shiva > 12o in SQ

12o> SE in SQ

All in reccomended enclosures.

Any sub can get loud, but it takes something special for it to do that and sound good

skmfkr: since im in hawaii, the shipping for an RL-p15 is $79, making the total for 1 driver $338, i called RE for the SX and they quoted me $290 shipped. (im talking about the 15s, but the 12" were $20 less).

this is quite a hard decision. I want the LSQ..while saving money =P.

well - heres what the setup would be if i were to get either of them:

--- RL-p15 w/ MTX801D

--- SX15 w/ Hifonics 1500w

still thinking which one.....

imo, from what i've heard, the RL-p will be much more of a lowend monster than the SX

ps, are you looking for a BX1500D?

^^^ I think your talkin about the xxx's.

The sx has plenty low end.

Dont know if it more than the RL though.

Its fun making peoples descisons difficult...

But IMO, you won't be disspointed either way.

no no, i know what im talking about

when i had my SX, it had lowend, it just wasnt uber amazing or anything

and from everyones reviews of the RL-p, it seems like it just has kick ass lowend

:P:P:P

yeah, two 18's sealed would be a low end monster..lol...

this is a hard one....

both are extremely well liked subs and have proven themselves to the majority. i think, like everyone else has pretty much posted, it should be decided by the ultimate application.

if ur after pretty damn loud with good sq, the sx would be the better choice.

if ur after awesome sq that just happens to have the ability to get pretty damn loud, get the rl-p.

either way, i'd power the sub with around 1200wrms. be it the SS or the RE....the mtx801d is a fine amp, but i think pushing a bit more into the rl-p would be fine.

here's something i would consider...and i'm not necessarly dogging RE's customer service, but mike and SS has yet to get a complaint about his cs, while RE has had quite a few, and yes, most have been about not answering emails. but i also know mike doesn't get defensive if his product is dogged, he just tries to find out why and then tries to make it right. from experience, i know RE isn't quite that nice..lol...

hmm hopefully i won't regret my purchase of a SX 15...although i only payed 190 for it slightly used...i might invest in an RL-p 15 later possibly though..
