Sub pops when I turn off the car. Talked to physics teacher and he says it is probably a surge that happens when I shut the car off that makes the speaker pop. I am inclined to agree with him... What should I do to fix this problem? Amp= SAZ-1000D if that helps.

You could try one of these Stinger Amplifier Pop Stopper

I used to have this problem because I wired the remote wire inline with the switched head unit power because for whatever reason the remote cable wasn't working on the HU. Eventually it just kind of went away, I'm not sure why.

Also, car is Saturn SW2 1993. Stock electrical with big 3. 85 amp alt. Hope that is useful.

Told that I need some sort of resistor; unsure where to put it.

This has only happened with the new amp: Direct swap with the old amp: Didn't even change the old remote: it is exactly the same as the sundown one!

How's your ground on your amplifier and head unit?

HU has factory ground

Amp is grounded to rear seatbelt bolt. Both grounds worked fine with old amp; no pop and no other problems, so I figured because it was a direct swap, the new amp could be to blame... Untrue?

Make correct grounds, the factory ground always sucks, as well as the seatbelt.

The ground probably shifted. That's what happened when I replaced my old HU, when I pulled out the old one the ground adjusted and I didn't check it so my new HU popped.

Will check amp ground first, didn't touch HU during install... Check 'em both I will...

My saz 1000D is doing it too. I wonder what it could be. I will check my grounds as well and see what the issue is. I didn't touch my HU either so hopefully it isn't that ground cuz it would be a pain to get to it haha

So I had a conversation with Mr. Jacob himself. As I did not move my grounds at all and they were fine for the other amp, he sided ulrisa: get a pop filter.

I'll give it a whirl and see what happens.

Please forgive my skepticism of your skepticism, but I grounded to a clean piece of metal that is a direct connection to the chassis, and my old amp worked just fine. The only variable in my whole setup was my amp, so it just seems logical to me that the amp is the "problem." Please do not misunderstand me when I say this, because I love my new sundown. However, because it is the only thing that changed in my setup, I am inclined to believe it is the issue. I think I will try a new ground if I can find another suitable one near the amp, but an interesting point came up in an email I sent Jacob asking him why this might be happening. He pointed out that my sundown's turn-off is delayed and my other amp could have an immediate turn off. From my experience with my old amp, I would say this is the case: The power light went out when I turned my HU off, and with my sundown there is a short delay after the HU goes off and then a pop.

However, I have not given up on a new ground yet: expect to hear from me on this soon.
