Best port placement for a center console

I'm redoing my box for 3-10" (or 3-12" not sure yet). Now currently my port is down low facing the dash. The current box is a TON louder with all the windows down vs up. I know this is normal sometime, but I don't like driving around disturbing everyone with them down, lol. So I was wondering if moving the port would help or make a difference? Port up with the subs, port back towards the back wall of the truck, or try it again with the new box faceing towards the dash again?

Just an idea of what it looks like at this time. You can see the "box" at the bottom. It's an "semi-external" with 8" outside & 4" inside to save some space.

Me, honestly dont like the idea of having subs in front right next to me. Couple of reasons, but whatever floats your boat.

Is it a problem? Space is limited in a crewcab. What suggestions do YOU have cause your post doesn't help at all.

Sound travels man. I don't think port placement is going to help prevent your system being audible from a distance with the windows down. You might try tuning higher if anything, since lower frequencies travel further if I'm not mistaken...

Or you could get some headphones.

That's nothin, seen a guy at the local college here with an S-10 with inverted 15's done in a crazy looking fiberglass enclosure. He'd drive around using a motor for an arm rest.

I'm with you on that. The box I'm working on right now is a down firing box.

I would try port down myself if the configuration will allow for it, or port back if it won't. I don't see the port firing up that low and in front of you allowing good interaction between the port and front wave of the subs, but then what do I really know.

see i would do a sub in the center console down firing to bring in some mid bass. i don't have a lot of space/ skills available to install a 3 way up front so i would do a 6.5-8 in the center console and have my 12 do just the sub duties....

i've seen a few center consoles with the sub down and the port blowing at the dash on top of the box (if that makes sense). and also port blowing towards the rear seats.
