just receive a 15" Xcon : what to do?

Recommended Posts

I have a new sub in a 3.5 ft3 box at 32 hz (Fishercustom designed)

The amp is a Sundown saz 1000.

My question is : do I have to play some special songs with the sub?

What volume ? Low, high?

Can I listen to anything without worrying, and the sub will be good in a few days ?

After 2 hours it is still so hard!!! And it does play really low.

set the gains correctly on your amp and let it bang. lol. The only way to break in a sub is to play it

x2, don't worry about breaking it in, over time it will

What they said ^^. It should fully break in over the same period of time your Icon did. ;)

Ok cool !

I don't even remember how it was for the Icon : seems that it was ok from the box !

I can already feel that it is "stronger", deeper,... Don't know how to say it. But I love it!

The saz 1500 will come one day, for sure!

In regards to breaking in subs, is there any advantage to be had by running the sub on a bench playing a 20Hz tone free air before installing it?

I've always been told not to push it to its maximum until fully broken in.

You've been told wrong.

The logical thing to do, regardless of what anyone says, is to follow the manufacturers guidelines. If in doubt exactly what those are, might be a good idea to call them to get clarification.

The only advantage will be it's pre-broken in, which isn't necessary.

Bang on that bish right out of the box.

It will just start to sound better when it loosens up some.

The sub is already playing!

I put it in the box maybe 3 hours after I got it from UPS!!! :)

It is still so hard. Maybe it will take some time to be ok, as I only have a 1000 watts amp on it.

When it is ok I will make a review : from Icon to Xcon on a saz 1000d.

Please do a review of the two. Is there a huge noticable difference? Cuz I am on the boat of maybe upgrading to the xcon but if it isn't that big of a difference ill just stay. Cuz I love my icon. I have an icon 12 on a saz-1000D and I am interested if there is a huge gain of going to the xcon 12 inch. Or maybe I should go to the xcon 15 inch. Even though I don't know because that box would probably take up my whole trunk lol. Thats why I stuck with a 12.

Yes, there is a noticable difference ! The bass is really heavier. The lows are starting to play.

I know how this sub sounds in this same box with 2 saz 1000 strapped together : it's insane ! I only have one saz1000 on it, I will upgrade to a saz 1500 when the money comes.

I will wait some more for the review, because I don't have time to play long. I will wait for the breakin time!
