alot of noise being picked up

So if the factory ground is shit, where would be a good location to ground the H/U?

Im suprised the new headunit didnt take care of the noise. I have the same problem as you Lucky, my noise is only when the car is on but I do have some small interference noise when it is in the ACC position but when i hook my MP3 up directly to my amp it goes away. So I know it is my headunit, it happened one day with my old system when a subwoofer wiring came loose from the termianl and hit the power terminal all while I was driving and bumping.

I have to run a couple tests. I know on my old radio the same exact thing happened as what you are describing. This one is doing the same thing. I doubt it is the radio. I am going to try grounding it to another point on the car as well as rerouting the power and ignition wire. I doubt that the caps went in the ignition coils especially because I get noise elsewhere. Well have to see this weekend. I will keep you guys posted because I know you are all dying to know.

It is weird because I remember trying a pos sony head unit and it worked fine. Then I put the old radio back in and I got the noise. However now I put the kenwood in and have the noise again. Maybe the problem is because I am using the big double din gps radios. That is what my old pioneer one was and that is what the kenwood is.

wow that is really strange! Questions have you ever hooked up the speaker via wire rather then use the rca's and an amp?

i know it sounds odd to do but if the noise is coming from the h/u or engine it would still be there if you run the wires. so what i am getting at is just hook the speaker up to the h/u as a quick test to see if it is still there.

Also is there a way to turn off/on the internal amp on the h/u when not in use or in use. I know on my h/u I can turn off the internal amp (in the h/u) and odd-ly enough it does sound a bit better.

but I don't know about this case as it is clearly not a simple fix,... have you tried praying to God yet? lol

That may be a problem or something else is causing interference with the signal in the vehicle. I would try another single din headunit and if works then try and troubleshoot what could be interfering with the signal or causing the noise. That is real weird.

I know on my last radio the RCAs were seeking ground because the pico fuse popped. I am going to have to test this head unit. I think I am going to have to ask God to help me figure this one out ahaha. I am just hoping I don't hear any noises from the subs or else I am in big trouble

I always tap me a new grounding point on the metal that' s holding up the dashboard or any other point under the dash that has metal that is a part of the car, factory grounds are all shit.

You do realize that is a floating ground correct?

It shouldn't be a floating ground, in my Mustang the dashbord is bolted to the fire wall and the floor with metal tabs and bolts. ( I know i had to take the whole dash out to replace the heater core) I think all cars are bolted this way, but i could be wrong

I pulled my deck out the other day and when i put it back in i had this nasty buzz that would change with engine rpm and you could here a bit of engine "wine" also but the buzz is much louder but what is really weired if i change source or change channel i get a thump or if i turn the volume from 1 to 0 i get a thump or from 0 to1 and it comes form both my sub amp and mids amp. My amps grounds are well made and tight and i tried a different deck and they both do the same thing but they are both pioneer's what is it about pioneer that would cause a noise problem? The only thing i can think of is my decks ground or maybe i broke a ground strap some where im going to run a new ground for my H/U and c if that does it
