Is anyone out there running lot's of power (+2KW) on a stock electrical system?

There are some people out there doing it but that is not the correct way. You need to add more information, read new member guideline.

Do you mean stock alternator, stock battery and thats it? or what?

After I posted, I realized that my post was completely vague. The example I had in mind was a buddy running a Kicker zx2500.1 on stock alternator with an Optima Red top.I've always been told that putting too much strain on your stock electrical system would be detrimental over time. Has anyone actually seen something other than dimming headlights? I know that extra batteries can only get you so far, but I'm trying to get an idea of how far I can go without an alternator upgrade.

Unless there are 200 amp stock alternators and large batteries it's not possible.

Until your car cuts off, I would suggest you do the Big 3 Wiring in 1/0 AWG (if you dont know what it is search for it, its on this forum) and about 2 - Group 31 Batteries for starters with a voltmeter to watch your voltage. If you dont want to get an HO Alternator but one will be needed eventually. Also get a battery charger so you can charge your batteries every couple of days so your alternator wont have to do it all the time.

1,000 Watts yes but 2,000 watts no not advised.

The red top is a meant to be a replacement starting battery. Look into doing the "Big 3", replacing the factory alt with a 200 amp minimum and at least 1-2 group 31 batts in the back.

I have ran 2krms off of a stock battery and stock alt. BUT i also upgraded to 2-batcap 2000's in the trunk to help me out!

so stock alt, battery plus 2 batcap 2000's to run my SAZ2000 with minimum issue at all!

my alt was pushing 5-6years so i ended up not chancing it and i just replaced with an upgraded stock alt (200amp alt) and my cars original battery nearly 7years old i also just replaced that b/c i would hate for it to die and my batcap2000's being the new and only batteries in the car.

Other then that just bump responsibly and get a volt meter!!

p/s i also did the big3 it helps out a LOT

Where is a good place to pick up a farily inexpensive digital voltmeter you could mount on the dash?

Edit: not trying to threadjack
