I am looking for someone to build a Enclosure

Recommended Posts

I am looking for someone to build a enclosure for my 15" ssa xcon. It needs to be 4 cubic feet tuned to 29hz, i'd like a flared slot port, in a standard rectangular enclosure with dark charcoal carpet, with a rectangular 10" window on the top showing off the insides (which means the insides need to look nice to enough to show off), so what would this run??? any offers? Also to add I would like it to only be 16" in height and no more than 35" in width, and I would like it if you could let me know what the end result on the depth would be?

Here are pics of the design I want

I want it to be close to the picture above, covered in dark charcoal carpet.

I would like the window to look something like the design of this window but completely see through, or for the window to look similiar to this following pic

I would get in contact with Quentin at Audible Customs or BJ at Fischer Customs. Look in the Custom Fabricators section of the forum.

Also to add for future reference, I would like the inside of the port painted black, the outside a dark charcoal, and the inside covered with a really light charcoal carpet that matches the outside but a lot lighter in color, since I plan on putting a neon on the inside.

-- For the speaker terminals I would like two gold plated ones for each voice coil, place them on the bottom of the rear, where ever they look the nicest, and then in one of the bottom rear corners put a smaller speaker terminal so i can run a wire for my neon also. And to clarify on the plexi windows, I want one in the middle of the rear and the top of the enclosure. And get good terminals, for example you could get monster cable terminals or something.

nobody's gonna carpet the inside of the box.... not that I'm aware of.. normally if you're putting neons in a box you want the inside painted white.

ya, but white gets dirty easy, and then how would I clean it, when it does get dirty, and I already have someone who said they will build this box for $265 so I plan on going though him unless someone offers a cheaper price. If you have an idea on what to do to the inside, where it won't appear to get dusty or dirty over time let me know

carpeting the inside is just dumb. make sure the guy you are going with has kerfed wood before. its not as easy as it looks. to achieve a good finish on the curve it takes alot of work. also i forsee it to be difficult to be carpeted on the outside with a kerfed port. carpet may not turn out satisfactory. make sure hes good at what he does. not everyone can make a masterpiece box.

look into the guys at the custom fabricators section. they all do good work.

How does the inside of an enclosure get dirty, you gotta explain this one to me. I have never had a dirty enclosure before on the inside.

If you want a good carpeted kerfed port enclosure with plexiglass contact Trevor at Pound That Sound.

The guy doing this is Audibel Customs so he is good, and dust, it sucks a lot of air so its bound to get dust The inside of my kove got dusty over the last 4 years. Plus I dont want the port carpet, or the kerfed part, I want the port painted black, and I did ask for suggestions to what to do to the inside besides the color white.

It won't "suck" any air.

I know, but when I took apart my kove once, it had dust, a few leaves, and yes even a tampon on the inside of it, so stuff does get in there.

It didn't get in there from being sucked in, it vibrated in.

I got a negative reputation to this specific post, and I am just curious to why i would even get one for this, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this message???? Sry if i bother anyone, i'm just confused at this.

Thank you duran, here is a pic of the window I would like, I finally ran across the exact window I want :)

xcon_build9002.jpg

I want it to look like this but I want one that is 9"x7" in the rear middle of the box and one that is 9"x12" in the center of the top of the box. This is a slight update to my original design..

Your best bet is to decide on which company you want to build your box for you and then proceed to email, call or make a topic under there thread on this forum. I doubt they are on here enough to look at every question about boxes, this will get you started on getting your box built faster.

well I have it posted in here, plus I have sent a PM to each company with a link to this.

PM'ing a lot of the company's may not be a good thing since they are barely on here and are busy with other things then responding to pm's. That is why I said your best bet is to email or call these guys if you really want to get in touch with them.
