what are you guys feeding your rl-p's?

Recommended Posts

i was wondering what the limit is, power wise, of these subs. the website says anywhere from 300-1200. i picked up an orion 2500D and planned to power 2 12" rl-p's with it. my box is 3.6 cubes tuned to 32 hz. i'm starting to be concerned as to wether or not these subs will be able to handle this power. i'll make sure to set my gains properly and subsonic filter and all that good stuff.

Nice choice for your amp B) I am using an Orion 1200D for a single RL-P and the speaker will take everything the amp has to offer without any complaints. I have mine in 1.25 sealed and still can't get the grin off my face  With your ported box, you may have to back the gains down to half or so but I think your set up will pound beyond your expectations.

i've given my single rl-p all the way up to 2500 (orion 2500d), but it didn't like it...lol...

anyway, kevin (finebar4) is right. with the proper settings on ur amp, the rl-ps will be fine off that amp. and with that amp (and assuming ur getting 2 dual 4's) u can wire for either 1200wrms @ 4 ohm (series, parallel) or 2500wrms @ 1 ohm (parallel, parallel)..so if u think it's too much power one way, go the other...but again, with proper setup, u shouldn't have any issues.

i already own the subs and they are dual 4 ohm and i plan to run them at 1 ohm. i've fed them 700 watts rms and they seem to handle that with incredible ease so my thinking was they could handle 1200 watts +, but i just wanted to make sure.

i feed mine 750 daily. but in my "Testing", the rl-p handled 1200 fairly easily in ported apps. that would be the limit i'd recommend. besides, with box impedence rise and properly set gains, they'll likely never see the full 2500 anyway. but they will handle it.

i don't think so. unless ur ears tell u otherwise. i didn't like my rl-p in the 2.5ft^3 tuned to 28hz box. it didn't get very loud and it tended to get muddy up at the top end (the xxx did the exact same thing). i really liked it in the 2 cube ported box..alot.
