Test Tones...

Recommended Posts

I want to set up my new, (refurbished actually but it's new to me) Sundown SAZ-1000D right, so I need some legit test tones.

First question: What tones do I need? I know I'm looking for a 50Hz tone to set the gain, but is that a "50Hz sine wave" or "50Hz mono-tone"? I've seen both, so I'm confused. Square waves? Sine waves? I have a very loose grasp on these things, but I think that a square wave=clipping and a sine wave shows the maximum gain setting before clipping... I'm so confused... What other tones do I need, if any?

Second question: On that pinned thread on how to set your gains under amp/head units main section, it gives two links for tones to download, and how to use them. However, one link, (at least when I tried, I could just be a retard), did not work and the other is for setting computer speakers, (it just had quicktime links and I couldn't seem to decipher how to download them). I know shizzzon has a link for tones, but when I downloaded some of those, I couldn't get them on media player and onto a CD. Tried local audio shop and even Best Buy but no one around me sells tone CDs. Where can I get me some tones?

it's really simple...

If u need 50hz, i got a link to JUST the 50hz tone. If you need tone(s), you need to download the ENTIRE compilation of sine wave parts, not just a single part.

Extract the archive once all parts have been downloaded.

Do not use WMP if it wont work, use something else.

I have never had anyone complain about the capability of these tones or the way to burn them. Sorry to say, but it's user error.

I picked up "Sonic Overload - Bass Mekanik" at Hastings a few years ago, you'll probably have to order online if you can't find it there.

Of course it's user error... I'm an idiot when it comes to 'puters... lol Thank you though

Julian, what tones are offered in this itunes deal?

Again I pose the question; what do I need to set my gain and my filters correctly? What tones?

Thanks everyone

I think 50 hz is good to set the gain.

But for your ssf you have to try several tones under the tuning frequency of your box. And choose the one that you like, and that will not arm the sub.

You have to look at the sub moving with the different test tones : you don't want it to break!

It's what I understood recently. I did not have time to test it.

You can also set the ssf just under the tuning frequency of your box.
