Front Stage

Recommended Posts

Recently got my D7506 in. Pics are in the amp section if you want to peep them out. This is my question. I'm going top end for my system. I want this to be my last system for a while. I have been into car audio for 15 years and have had some pretty serious installs. I never competed in a competition. My goal this year is to take home at least 1 big ass trophy for a SQ system. I started off with this chit, Audiocontrol MVC, Audiocontrol 6XS (which I may not need with the Diamond - hence 3 seperate fully active butterworth x-over's on the D7506 alone) (2) Audiocontrol EQT's, the D7506, and the D7402. Sub will come later on. This is my question:

I currently run a set of 2-way Boston Acoustics Pro Series 6.5's. Everyone tells me that they are crap and there are soooo many better brands. I have always been pleased with the Boston's but I am ready for a change. I will be going for a 3 way fully active front stage with either the following brands:

1. Keep the Boston Pro's and add the 4" mid to the set

2. Dynaudio MW 160 7 midbass, MD 140 3 mid, and the MD 100 1.1 tweet

3. Diamond Hex 6.5" midbass, 4" mid, and 1" tweet set

4. Image Dynamics Horns with 4" mid and 6.5" midbass

5. Sea's Lotus Excel 6.5" midbass, 4" mid, and 1" tweet

Does anyone have any experiences, good or bad, with any of these 3 way component sets? I welcome all advice, opinions, comments, criticism, etc. Sorry for the long ass post, just hoping to stir up an intelligent conversation about some serious components and this seems like the best place to do it, p.s. have yet to seen any dickwipes on this forum.

Thanks again, Dez

cool, did not know that. hmmm, maybe run 2 channels to the horns and bridge the other 4 channels to a Nice set of 6.5 or 7" midbass. How would that be?

Make some recs on Nice horns then...

im not really the one to talk to about horns, im just learning myself but Illusion Audio and Image Dynamics are the 2 big horn makers

a strong mid is all you need to go along with them, think XXX6.5, Koda8, some of the ID mids
