rl-p 12 review.

Recommended Posts

just an update, somthing that is becomeing more apparent to me as the days go by listening to the rl-p is the way i get to listen to more music, because of this sub.there are tons of tracks that i would skip before, because i didnt like the way they were 'produced/recorded' ??? well no im thinking it was my old sub,the rl-p lets me enjoy all the tracks i previously had to skip? like i sais before.this sub makes everything it sees sound excellent, and if you want to 'crank' it,it accomadates with effortless ease, audiophile sq and hammering spl.for those of you who have your rl-ps in sq setups,im sure you know exactly what im talking about, for those of you who take this fine subwoofer and run it purely spl.........sell me your rl-p and go buy a kicker ?

:+1:

After a couple weeks and a few 5 to 8 hour drives under it's belt, the more I play my new RL-P the better it sounds  . I haven't heard a sub in my truck hit so low, ever  . This is gotta be the best product that I have bought blind :fing34: (no chance to see, touch, hear) and am so glad I took a chance on other peoples opinion. My only wish is that I had the space to run 2. I am sure there are other subs out there that I haven't auditioned (SI, RE, DD) that would sound as good, but until money starts growing on trees in my backyard, I am gonna hang onto this bad boy and love it for what it is...........DA BOMB.

i gotta agree...the rl-p just keeps reaching...low is "demonic"..high is subtle yet pronounced. this is a truely wonderful sql sub and i've owned, listened to some of the best.

the rl-i isn't bad either...i'd never would have guessed an 8 would get that low!

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

The big three is basically upgrading the cables in your charging system, there is a sticky on a post that walks you thru it in the amplifier section. Have a read thru it and then follow suit, makes a big diff for your amps when they hit peak transients. My picture is one a few different species of African Cichlids that I raise and breed as my other hobby. I sell babies and ship them all over the US. I'll change it up in the next couple weeks with a different type that I have. But back to the big three, read it, learn it, live it.

And yes 1200 watts to my RL-P makes it just the way I like it................................LOUD :domoslay::domoslay::domoslay::ghost:

ah!, well i think (but im not sure ,how do i tell) that i have the dual 4 ohm, which means i need an amp that does 1000 wrms plus @ 2 ohms.........any idea? im useing a phoenix gold xennon right now 600wrms sq is real good and i wouldnt want a less sq amp for more power? so whats a great sq amp with 1000 wrms @ 2 ohms?

do u get ur rl-p in the group buy?

anyway, to check impedence of the coils just grab ur dmm and set it to ohms....then just simply touch ur terminals with the probes...if it's a d4 sub, ur dmm will read ~4....it'll read ~2 if it's a d2 sub....make sure u measure each coil seperately..meaning pull all speaker wire from the terminal...

as to ur question concerning amps...look up ur amps bigger brother. if u like the pg, stick with a pg...

other options..

memphis 1500d

mtx 1501d

jl 1000/1

eD 9.1

others i'm sure, but i can't think of any at the moment...

60ndown, I think you're the cool cat from Santa Cruz - in which case you were shipped a dual 4ohm (D4) subwoofer as stated in your invoice. If you're not, shoot me an email with your order number and I can tell you. Alternately you can test the coil as Kent has suggested :)

Even though the D4 wired in parrallel is 2ohm the Orion can be wired to 1ohm. It has two sets of speaker outputs that are internally bridged. To wire it to 1ohm you take the + of one and the - of the other just as if you were bridging a 2 channel amp.

No need to take it out of the box... just use the meter on the wires...
