Box question

Box for IA 187 15"

I used the RE box calculator and i got this:

width-28"

height-21.5"

bottom depth-18"

top depth-18"

Port height-20"

Port width-3"

port lenght 1-14.25

port lenght 2-9"

total port lenght-28.5"

Port diameter-8.74

square port area-60"

Port volume internal-1710

volume displaced-1726.875

box volume-4.061ft3

frequency-33.76

cut sheet

bottom-28x18

top-28x18

left -17.25x20x17.25x20

right-16.5x20 16.5x20

back-28x20

front-24.25x20

port L1-13.5x20 13.5x20

port L2-9x20

cut angle-90

These dimensions seem wrong to me.

wouldn't the left and right be the same could someone please explain this for me? am i just slow or is this wrong?

The panels are right. It has to do with the way the panels are oriented to fit with one another. It is kind of hard to explain without a pic, but the left side is the side with the port so the side is connected the the back panel. So 17.25 plus .75 for the back panel width = your 18" depth. The right panel is connected to the front and back panel so 16.5 plus .75 for the front panel and .75 for the back panel = your 18" depth.

The right panel is between the front and back baffle of the enclosure which accounts for that extra 3/4", while the left panel is on the back baffle only since the port starts from the left and works it way over, just look at the picture.

Ok thanks. I wanted to be sure because my dad is building the box for me, but he lives out of town so i'm gonna just give him the cut list and hope he can put it together without a picture.

Any other thoughts or suggestions on this?

I'm getting this box made because the one I have now turned out to be tuned to 53hz I hope that the 34hz tuning will increase my low end output noticably.

It will increase it drastically, just make sure all your other settings are good and you will be fine.
