So, I just but in the new BL, (see sig for more info), and I am very displeased with the amp I'm powering it with, so I think it's time for a new one. Current amp is putting out 600 at 1 ohm, (so it claims, not so sure it is), and I am looking to change that; on a $300ish or less budget I was thinking an audioque 1200d or an SAZ-1000d, (the pre-order for the sundown 1200 will be long over by the time I have the money for a new amp, so it is probably out of my price range). Are there other good choices out there? This is going to be a budget-concious set-up so if there are two solid amps putting out decent power, then I'd go for the cheaper one, unless of course it is obvious the pricier one is of extremely high quality, (there are always exceptions)...

Let me know if I have yet again forgotten to give out some important information...

Don't worry, finishing the Big 3 soon and looking at new battery/alternator before new amp.

Thanks

Well I guess we will have to wait and see when you have the money for it what will be the best amp for you budget.

Basically... IF I had the money now, which is the better amp? By better I mean more reliable/powerful. I know that the 1200d can do 1450 according to the audioque site, but I have seen anything for the sundown other than "1000 at 1 ohm"

Go search under the Sundown Thread and look for amp power testing or something along those lines, it will show you want the amps are capable of doing. Most will say Sundown as I would too for reliable and especially power since their ratings are at 12volts while other companies are at 14volts. Just my .02, but the one that would be the better amp is the one that fits your budget and does rated power period.

Thanks for your input. I'll check that out.

O.K. I checked the specs awhile back, they said 1113 watts according to testing.

I also talked to the sundown guy, jacob, and he said the SAE-1200d is going to be in the low $300s, so I'm still undecided.

I have decided on less than $400 for a budget, (shipping and everything included in that).

To rephrase my original question, what does Sundown offer that Audioque doesn't? As far as I can tell from the specs all three amps, (Audioque 1200D, Sundown SAZ-1000D and SAE-1200D), seem a lot alike... Are the Sundowns more expensive because they are superior products or because Audioque sells direct from the manufacturer? Is there something else I'm missing here?

The main thing that Sundown has over Audioque is the fact that Sundown rates it's amps at 12 volts while Audioque rating is 14 volts.

And that that's gonna be kinda important in a Saturn with stock electrical 'cept for the big 3... I'll be saving for a Sundown then.

New question: The SAZ-1000D and the SAE-1200D are going to be around the same price, (apparently); why? Wouldn't it be obvious to choose the more powerful one for the money? What's the difference between SAZ and SAE?

Should I be asking this in the Sundown section? lol

Basically they are made in different warehouses with different parts, SAE is entry line but still a beast (the more affordable) while the SAZ is the beast of the line-up:

Read this topic and see how Jacob explains the small difference between the two lines.

So I see...

I'll do some more research, but both bring the pain plenty, but I'm leaning toward the SAZ... We'll have to see.

You wouldnt really miss out on anything by going with the the SAE-1200 v.2 over the SAZ-1500D, but do it like this if you have the extra cooling and fully loaded then go for the SAZ-1500D and if you dont then get the SAE-1200 but redardless you wont hear the difference. Just my .02

Why neglect the 1000D? I'm not going to compete or anything, just want more bump.

I was just thinking that it would give me a little more than RMS and wouldn't put too much strain on my electrical...

The SAZ-1000D will do the trick also, its is just known that BL's can take some abuse. For headroom and the ability to crank it if you want to plus if you plan on upgrading in the future then you can go SAZ-1500D but if not the SAZ-1000D will work fine also.

Then maybe the SAE-1200D could be what i want...

Guess I'm going to just see what kind of deals pop up for what amps.

Right now there still is that used SAZ-1000D in the classifieds, but if that disappears then I'll have to check out some others.

Thanks again.

AP30001D ;) lol Still under your first price budget.

I don't need 3k... However, I know that they make a 1200, or is it 1800?

Are these dependable amps?

Compare them to Sundown.

Thanks

They make 1500 and 1800. They work great and haven't heard any reports of fails. I don't have any problems with the 1500 and the 3000. They make rated power too but not at 12.8 like sundown. They are rated at 14.4 so on the 1500, at 12.8 you would see about 1300. Its 150 shipped for the 1500 and I think right under 200 for the 1800.

The SAZ-1000D is a beast of a lil" amplifier and will be easier on your electrical than the SAZ-1500D or SAE-1200D v.2. It will power your BL just fine. If you want more power later you can always buy another SAZ-1000D and strap the two.

I have no experience with either the Audioque or Audiopipe so I cannot comment fairly.

Sundown FTW!

This one looks like its around the price and wattage you are looking for. AQ1200D

yes, I was considering audioque, but if they are rated at 14.4 and the sundowns at 12.5, then I think that the SAZ-1000D would be close to the AQ1200D...

Maybe someone has done some kind of comparison? unlikely, unfortunately... :(

All the amps listed are good ones.

Look around again! I saw internal pics of some AQ and Sundown amps : you can tell which seems better just by looking ! I know nothing about electronics, but it was so obvious !!!

If you have the money, go for the Sundown.

If your budget is too small, go AQ or APipe. Or save money until you can afford a Sundown.

The saz 1000 seems to be a good choice : you don't want to compete, so you don't need 1500 watts, and you want to keep your electrical stock.

It's up to you now !

Tell us what you choose.
