biggest newbie question ever please help

Recommended Posts

i have a m1d1 usamps amp. it says its a mono amp so does that mean i can only run one sub off of it cause the way it looks it has a pace for two. and if i can run two will they be getting the same power if wired up the same. say if i wire it to one ohm will they both be getting 1200 watts?

well mono amp refer to MONO=1CHANNEL

you can run any number of sub off of a MONO BLOCK amp!

the second set of plus and minus are just for simply hook ups! those are wire in PARELLEL internally!

so if you wnat to run a d2 sub at 1ohm hook the 2 red terminals to the plus sign on the amp and the two black ones to the two neegative ones on the amp!! it makes life easier!

if you hook the subs in parellel to each other the VAC (voltage in a/c) will fall across ALL the subs in the parellel channel

but if you hook it up in series you will get a voltage drop across each sub.

make sense?

Seriously man what do you think, I honestly beat you can answer both of these questions without our help. Why would two subs wired to an amp that only puts out 1200rms now all of a sudden does 2400 just because of the number of subs you have. How many people use a Mono Subwoofer amp and have more than one sub on it. Please do some research before asking question, even try to google because these answers on the internet too.

o don't get me wrong with the other set of terminals on the amp you can hook up another sub SIMPLY it is just for simplicity! and conviences! since the 2 sets are hooked up in parellel internally to each other!

i told u it was a big newbie question and i figured u couldnt but it has a spot for what looks like another sub can be hooked up.

If you say so, to me that was a none thinking question. If that were the case then amplifiers wouldnt just have one rating on them if everytime you add a sub the rms jumps up by double (im not downing you but we just talked about people thinking before they post and this falls into this category). But yeah the two terminals are for wiring convience or if you want to run mutliple subs and let the amp do the ohm load dropping.

X2, I can tell you from personal experience that these people are here to help you, but honestly, they are not going to do the work for you. EDUCATE yourself to the best of your ability (google.com is your friend). Then if you still have a serious question that you just can't figure out on your own post it here and most will be glad to help. The information you are looking for can be easily found on the internet. Take some initiative and try to learn something. Just my $.02.

Yes thanks for saying that because some people just expect us to answer them and we will. But we are like teachers in school we want you to go out and find as much information as you can and then come ask us for further clarification. We will help and I have no problem helping others, the only problem is when others dont want to help themselves and want us to do all the work for them. keep the questions coming just do some work on your own OP.

so the wattage dividing in half when i add another sub is correct?

Yeah wattage will stay the same no matter how many subs you add, it just divides into the number of subs you have (you have 2 subs they will see 600rms each, four subs then 300rms each from your amp and so on).

What else is confusing you about amps (sometimes people make it to confusing on themselves by looking so hard into it, after awhile it will simplify itself)?

see in my pic above, the 1200 rms will divide up into the 2 subs and then divide again into each voice coil!!

i hope it does. ok so what im wanting to do is i think 4 tens in the back would it be better to do i guess 2 2 channel amps or do a 4 channel amp. and it seems like the only amps that put out enough power that i want are the mono amps. and i need an amp for component speakers and im guessing it will have to be a 4 channel amp

fi bl 1000 watts rms and its d1 and d2 i think

fi q 1000 watts rms same as above

dc level three 600 watts rms i think its a d4 i couldnt tell really on the site

dc level four 1000 watts rms think its d2

rd audio sonance 500 rms dont have a clue
