Power Acoustik the company

Recommended Posts

i feel like i should say something nice about this company. i blew 1 of there 55001d amps and they took it back no problems sent me a brand new one (just had to pay shipping both ways). so 2 days ago i ended up blowing one of there 1600/4 amps. just called tech support to make sure what the alternating power/protect light ment. (it means its "toast"). the tech support was amazingly friendly and directed me to RA where they gave me a RA # no problem or saying that it was installer error. (which it was not). if it was not for their korean made cheapness i would HIGHLY recommend them.

needless to say i'm still going to end up getting all sundown amps.

Korea makes good amps.... china products tend to be of lesser quality...

the soundstream/power-acoustic guys have great customer service.. I've never had an issue with them.. that's all I use to run right at the time of the merge (or whatever made the two the same)

a company called EPSILON. owned power acoustik , Fahrenheit, and SPL low ends audio products. I guess they needed something more reperable and bought out soundstream.

Soundstream still makes their own products, but are now part of the EPSILON FAMILY

Hmmm my Sundown Amp says "Made in Korea." Guess its junk.

Nice sarcasm. :)

Shows how much people know about the stuff they are going to buy. hehe.

Also, things made in china don't necessarily mean that they are junk or cheap. It depends on the company that oversees the products they get from the build houses.

power acoustiks are just cheaply made and they happen to be made in korea.

i personally like foxconn motherboards.

i'm not fond of FoxConn's motherboards because I use Asus and have loved them for the last 7yrs i've been using their equipment.

I've used their motherboards, video cards and monitors, never had a problem.

I've read people who have with their boards... but i assume to believe that these users are inexperienced and are killing their boards through ESD and not knowing it.

When building a more budget type setup, i prefer Biostar, Gigabyte or MSI (sometimes).

asus is great and all but they tend to be on the "cutting edge" and expensive. last asus i really used was the... let me think. Asus a7nx-deluxe? it was a awesome OC bored. Foxconn is my budget boards now.

Pretty much every other Apple product, Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation 3, and the Microsoft Xbox 360 too

this is going off topic, lol, but that's what i like about ASUS, DDR3-2000+ minimum and stable.

I OCed a socket 775 before(my board actually) to over 1900MHz FSB one time and was stable for bout 2hrs at a time. I don't really know what the problem was at the time because the temps were too hot for 24\7 use.

The board was only rated for 1333MHz FSB and OC stable to 1600MHz FSB, lol. I'm currently runnin it at 1772MHz FSB for almost a year without problems. Core voltage kinda high 1.32v but hey.. it's stable and runnin fine. When i tried to run it at 1.313v, the system would lock up one every 3 weeks in a perfect cycle.

it's not just me, it's the boards. Asus and DFI and sometimes gigabyte use very good cooling methods on the northbridge and surrounding caps around the socket to allow for such insane levels of OCing.

I am really curious to see what happens with PPI. I hope it will not just be a high end name that is slapped on mediocre products, much like MB Quart etc.

I recently bought some ppi pcx102's, on the back of the manuals theres a sticker with their address, and the main company name on it is power acoustik.

they were only 54 bucks shipped. Im sending each one around 275 watts

they are in 1 cube at about 35, and I want to try them in a bigger box because I think theres more there, but I am pretty impressed with them so far.

Im pretty sure I couldnt have gotten anything much better (if any) for the price (excluding price).

now that I re-read that line after you posted it again, I dont know what the hell I was talking about... "for the price (disregarding price)" I know I typed it out, and then changed the wording a bit before I posted it. I guess I should have re-read the whole sentence before I posted it.

I'm sorry this may be a little off topic to the title of the post but I was discusses a little in the tread. I used to own a soundstream amp and was very pleased with it. I am just begining to get back into car audio with a build for my new truck. I looked at soundstream a while back for another project and I guess it was just after they had gotten bought out. I was upset to see thier products go from looking well made to flashy chrome cheap looking amps. I was under the impression they decided to put more imphasis on marketing instead of producing good quality products. I just visited their site and it looks like they are going back to the old school style as far as the rubicon and reference lines go. I'm wondering how has their quality been through out the years from the old school amps? Can anyone speak for the new reference and rubicon series? The new amps look decent and aren't very flashy. Also how would they compare to a sundown in terms of quality, which seems to have a very good reputation among the forums?
