New FI Q 12

Recommended Posts

Bought a new Fi Q 12 and i was wondering if you guys could help me out with the enclosure, i have a hatchback its a golf with Cdt es-520 with upstage up front and cl-61a in the rear powered by a Directed 1100d5 and strapped to 600d for 1200watts @ 2ohm for the sub. i listen to wide range of music but mostly reggae, hip-hop, r&b, rap, pop, and some classics. My goal is sound quality but i would also like it to be loud at the same time without sacrificing sound quality and with that said would a sealed or ported enclosure best suit my hatchback. Thanks guys!!!

I would say ported since you threw loud in there, what are the max dimensions you have to work with (height x width x depth).

x2, I was going to say sealed at first but since he threw loud in there and is concerned about output I decided to go with ported also.

About 36w x 15d x 24h i would think, i dont want to take up all the space, what fz in how many ft^3 and what port area

Speaker facing up or back and should the port be facing in the same direction as the speaker

Ported box: 1.8-2.5 cuft @ 28-33Hz. As with what direction to face the sub and port, its all guess and check.

Could you be more specific, it's my first time building a ported box and does it needs to be braced using a 1" face board an 3/4" for the rest of the enclosure.

More specific about what?

Use the link here to build your box. It can come in handy for a beginner. It will tell you exactly what sizes to cut and how many. Flip flop the numbers around to get exactly the right size and tuning for the driver and you will be fine. No bracing or 45's in the corners. Just a nice simple box to learn from. The only thing it doesnt account for is the double baffle top if needed.

So you want me to choose an enclosure size FOR you when the range of difference is only .7ft3? Are you kidding? Why dont I just come over there and build it for you too? Do a little homework for yourself and you will see what the popular enclosure sizes and tuning areas are for that driver. It doesnt help to write without punctuation or forming proper sentences either. Its pretty hard to read. You cant expect to come here and we do all the work for you. We come here to learn and spread knowledge so we expect you do the same.

And thank you...I am a c-word! You little b-word a-word f-word.

Wow, did he say you were a c-word (are we in grade school, if your man enough to say something about somebody at least say the word) :lol2:. But dude seriosly go measure the space you have available and go from there, if you have enough space for a 2.25ft^3 enclosure than do that, if not then go smaller. It is that simple, yo gotta do some work on your own nobody is gonna baby you and do all the work for you.

Plus grow-up man, he is helping you and you want to get emotional (those are female traits so leave them off this forum and keep them for you personal life) :bartmoon: .
