Sound imaging software

Recommended Posts

I don't have any clue what it is called, but i recall a program for the computer with a series of microphones that listen to a given song or test track and give a top view of the sound waves throughout the room. I am trying to figure out what it is, so we can dial in the system my church currently owns.

Thanks!

Do you mean something like Imprint or Odyssey Eq? I wouldn't call it imaging somtware, all it does is calibrates your eq so it will yield a flat response and sets time delay on speakers so that all the sound reaches the listener at the same time.

Is that what you're talking about.

There's tons of software for measuring all kinds of things.

I thought there was one that showed a top veiw of all the waves in the room, to help with aiming the speakers... time delay was a side function though.

Acoustic room mode modeling software options are around $20k. DIRAC is the most commonly used one, but between the spectrum analyzer, microphones and software expect to drop close to $80k. Perhaps more depending on what you really want to do.

I am sure there are cheap shitty knock-offs, but again you are making a thread asking for something without explaining yourself. This doesn't help you and it doesn't help anyone else. Stop it.

If you are just looking for some correction software you normally just buy hardware with a built in Audyssey processor.

:faintthud:

I was looking for something to help with the sound imaging in my church (I do tech there). They can't seen to get it right (strange shaped room).

I guess it's back to more trial and error.

If you buy an EV system it will come with software that does what you are looking for, but don't expect it to be cheaper.

Also, don't expect to solve your problems with trial and error. Not really possible. Again your description of what is wrong and what you are trying to do isn't here. You REALLy need to spend more time thinking when you make threads. You've been here long enough to realize this. :(

*sigh* The problem we have with the church audio setup is that, while it sounds good from the tech booth, it is spotty, like, good spots all over the room, but not consistently. We are trying to get as even a soundstage as possible, throughout the room.

If those programs are the only answers i guess its out of the question, it's not in the budget,.
