Got an increase in SPL and SQ, now how did i do it?

Recommended Posts

Alright, the other day, just messing around with my subs(SWS-1023D's in a "folded horn" box), i decided to run one of them reversed with the other one regular. also in my adventures, i placed them in the far back of my trunk facing(subs and port) towards the cab. I was suprised when i cranked the music and heard not only an increase in SPl but also a better SQ fing05.gif . Now being the Noob that I am, im curious to why this resulted like it did. i tried searching other forums but failed to come up with any useful information. and if it is a simple explination, why wasnt it set up like this when i had installed?

Thanks for any and all comments

An installer isn't gonna spend the time to position a box just perfectly before u leave with the car.

What you are hearing is a certain small range of frequencies that are maturing by the time it reaches your ear. 1\4 wave length theory.. there are also variations of that theory like half wave and all that.

If you had a meter, i'm sure reinstalling the sub properly would achieve even higher spl.

I'm not into SQ competition so i can't help you on that part of the question.
